What starter on the 2011 team was healthy on the team in 2012?

        Manningham? Nope
        Ballard? Nope
Nicks? Spent almost all of the season injured.
        Cruz? Yes

Rodgers returned 4 of out 5 receivers, and his TE. The 5th receiver was Driver who was being phased out of the offense for James Jones that previous season. And all 5 of them missed a combined 13 games. You can include Driver and say it was a total of 29 games missed

Nicks - 3 games, Ballard - 16 games, Manningham - 16 games = 35 and that's pretending Nicks was healthy for the other 13 games.

        • Diehl should be a back up for a guard position. He has never been that good of a tackle on either side. We have been lucky that Eli has not gotten injured.

              dont you get it yet..../???
Guys who praise Rodgers think he is great and no matter what the circumstance and will twist things just a bit to make Rodgers even better then he already is. Then those same guys will make all the excuses in the world why Eli is a great QB and twist things just a bit to make it seem like he shouldnt even be named in the same sentence as Rodgers...

You do realize that Ballard and Manningham were no longer on the roster and were replaced by Bennett and Randle.......right?????

You do realize that that is two new players, not the same two players, right?

                      • Eli was tearing it up until Nicks went down. Nicks became a liability on the field and these dinosaurs just wouldn't give randle a chance. Even when Barden had his chances he did the most with them. Hopefully Nicks can stay healthy all year. But if he doesn't, they better stop trotting him on the field every Sunday.

theres truth to this. eli was discussing how the biggest issue with last yrs offense was the drop off in big plays. that imo correlates directly with nicks, not only for himself, but how he effected the coverages for the other wrs...

he was just too hobbled to be a legit, consistent threat to defenses downfield. and the offense sputtered.

with him healthy, and randle transforming into a solid vet, that wont be an issue this year imho

                          • and im starting to think that the reason the giants played nicks, wasnt bc they were misinformed on nicks. i think they realized, even a hobbled nicks, we didnt have a guy who could replace him and be a viable threat to dfenses the way he was. i think the coaches learned not to expect that back in 08 when they tried swappin hixon with plex like there was no difference in player.

they prob figured that keepin a hobbled nicks still allowed them to be as close to their actual scheme opposed to putting any of the other wrs we had. meaning, if we were gonna go with a diff wr, we would have to scrap the offense we had prepared and been running bc we didnt have a guy who could come close to doing what nicks can...rr wasnt ready early in the yr just yet

I agree with this. Despite Nicks not giving us the production we've all grown accustomed to, he was still basically a lock for 40 yards and a few receptions. Nothing eye-popping, but not something you can bank on with other receivers.

Like the Plax situation in 2008, we could've done a better job adjusting our offense. This isn't necessarily a criticism of KG, because it's not ideal to philosophically change your offense in-season. You lose a big time player, and you're gonna feel it. Unfortunately, it was difficult for us to overcome.

If that situation occurs again, we'll be much better prepared with a progressed Randle, though.
