  • OL Jon Halapio will return to New York Giants

    https://www.bigblueview.com/2018/3/1...cy-rumors-news

Excerpt: "Offensive lineman Jon Halapio took to Twitter Monday morning to announce that he will be returning to the New York Giants. Halapio, an exclusive rights free agent, has been tendered by the Giants.

Halapio, 26, appeared in 10 games with six starts at right guard for the Giants in 2017. Those were the only games he has played in during his NFL career. Halapio played 403 snaps. Halapio also worked extensively at center during the 2017 preseason.

The Giants have re-signed two backup interior offensive linemen, Halapio and veteran John Greco. They are not expected to re-sign guard D.J. Fluker. The signings of Halapio and Greco could also be bad news for John Jerry, who could be a salary cap casualty as the Giants look to clear room under the $177.2 million cap.

Starting G/T Justin Pugh and starting center Weston Richburg are both unrestricted free agents. Neither is expected to return to the team in 2018." Read more...

    Why?

He seems to be easily replaceable... I dont get this. Both Grecco and Halapio arent good.

I don't get this either. Yet, I don't get anything they have done in the last 5 years

Im guessing they are pinching pennies now that Ogletree is getting $10m this year.

That is the problem. We have alot of average good players.

not a big deal. I am sure the way its structured they can prob drop him when ever with no issue

you guys are making it seem like the Giants are rebuilding the oline based on this player's tender.

              Cheap depth.....thats all he is

I disagree...they were more solid than the majority of people that played oline last year. Those are good cheap signings. Likely back-ups...but nice and solid if they have to play.

Everyone is so anxious! Free agency just started and this is not a complete one year fix

Grecco is not good. HE is at best average. And he at his best is a adequate backup for a series or 2.

Not a big deal $$$ wise, but a big deal if they are taking up roster spots.

They were just as good or better than Richburg and Jerry at RG as far as I'm concerned.
