  • Jerry Reese absolutely destroyed the Superbowl contender he inherited

Look at the guys drafted recently. These are all our draft picks in round 1-4 from 2007-11. You should be getting a starting player more often then not:

Aaron Ross- Not a starting caliber CB, not worthy of a 1st rounder
Steve Smith- out of the league
Jay Alford- out of the league
    Zak Deossie- long snapper

Kenny Phillips- bust, probably headed out of the league
Terrell Thomas- walking injury, but I do like him and hold hope for the future.
Mario Manningham- 3rd WR who has done nothing since leaving the Giants
Bryan Kehl- out of the league

Hakeem Nicks- very good player, unfortunately I dont think we will be able to keep him after the season
Clint Sintim- bust, out of the league
Will Beatty- bust, doubled down on this mistake with a horrible contract
Ramses Barden- out of the league
Travis Beckum- out of the league
Andre Brown- under 500 yards in his entire career, solid 3rd back when healthy.

JPP- Not sold on him. One good season two years ago. We had better options #13 overall (Pouncey or Buluga would have been great).
    Linval Joseph- good DT
    Chad Jones- N/A, unrelated issues.
Philip Dillard- out of the league

Prince- Looking to be a good pick. Fell into our lap, but a good pick
    Marvin Austin- bust
    Jernel Jerrigan- bust
James Brewer- certainly not off to a good start

No "hidden gems" from this time period either (outside of Bradshaw in 07). There is nobody drafted in rounds 5 through 7 in those years is even on the team outside of Jacquan Williams.

Its just not good enough. We need to get a new GM in to rebuild the team.

Players come and go on the Free Agency Merry-Go-Round, but the N.Y. Giants will always be here!

Well, in his defense, he did put up a cool Super Bowl clock.

p.s....We are set at 3rd string QB, so he's got that going for him.....which is nice.

I agree to a point, but we could be worse off.. oh wait, 0 and 4.. a team where most of the players could care less.. oh wait, maybe not.

In Reese's defense a lot of his top pics succumbed to injuries early in their career. Steve Smith was instrumental in the transformation of Manning and the SB in 2007.

I still think Reese's body of work as a GM has been mediocre and shouldn't be considered one of the best GMs in the league like he has.

Kenny philips wasn't a bust, he had a couple of decent season, but his career was ruined after his knee injury, same with Steve Smith, Jay Alford, Terrel Thomas, Andre brown, and Chad jones, who were all hit by the injury bug.

Steve Smith holds the franchise records for most receptions in a season and had a higher success rate with Eli than both Nicks and Cruz in regards to catches vs targets. He also caught more 3rd downs (when he was a starter) than both of those guys.

Are you blaming Reese for his knee injury? That's ultimately what ended his career as a Giant and NFL'er. Cruz is a better all around WR, particularly because of his big play ability, but Smith was a superior possession-type WR for Eli. A security blanket that we lack nowadays.

“Basically just stay with your man,” cornerback Janoris Jenkins said. “Follow him everywhere you go. Even if he goes to the bathroom, follow him.”

Can't count T2, Steve Smith, and Chad Jones against his record. As there is no way he could control injuries. T2 and Smith were very good to pro bowl caliber players when healthy.

That is perhaps the most terrible "summary" of the draft picks I have ever seen.

THANK YOU. Do this for all the other teams in the NFL then compare them side by side. This is a ridiculous post. We have two SB's under him, but I guess he had NOTHING to do with that. Give me a break.
Just when I don't think it can get any worse, I think of you Ray. I have been to the abyss....thank you for helping me stay positive.

Not even that, but he labels guys "busts" or "out of the league" despite them being huge components of teams that won the SB.

What percentage of players stick on the team that drafted them for 6+ seasons? Id bet its pretty rare.

You arent helping the team in games you dont play.

Reese said he was making a point NOT to draft injury prone players when he took over the job. But regardless, its the NFL, injuries happen to every team.
