  • Bradshaw's Fumble

    http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-playof...al-near-fumble

Just saying, the whistle was blown after the fumble. He broke one tackle, and then as two people came in and one forcing the fumble (Bowman) the refs decided it was dead and blew the whistle after. This all happened over the course of about 1 second. No way was this a dead ball, he had just barely started to get pushed by Bowman and Brock and he fumbled.

The refs blew the call when the Giants played the 49ers in the 02 WC round, but if that's a blown call then what's this? Just sayin, that's on the 17 yard line too with only just over 2:00 left.

I'm sure this thread will go over big.

    Re: Bradshaw's Fumble

it wasn't. Learn the rules. Every one agrees it was not a fumble. BTW do you have eyes? Did you not see the replay of how forward motion was stopped?

To bad so sad. But glad to see you guys paid the refs off.

Here is the rule in case you didn't know it.

"Rule 7, Section 2 (b) of the NFL Rule Book (page 35) covers "dead balls." The rule states: "An official shall declare the ball dead and the down ended: (b) when a runner is held or otherwise restrained so that his forward progress ends." That was the immediate ruling yesterday, which is not subject to a replay review."

The refs made the correct call according to the rule but I'll be the first to admit that I'm not exactly a fan of that rule personally.

Does it surprise you that the whistle blew after forward progress had stopped because honestly I would be surprised if it hadn't.

How much longer do you plan on complaining about this...on the GIANTS message boards?

If we agree with you will it change the game? If we disagree with you does it make you feel better?

Let it go man it's over, time to move on.

Wow, now that you pointed it out I can clearly see that those dumb ol' refs blew it.

Ouch, that really sucks for you.

                      Re: Bradshaw's Fumble

something the OP conveniently failed to mention is that there was a defender preventing bradshaw from making direct contact with the field by being underneath him and pulling him back. bradshaw wasnt able to have his body hit the ground bc of that defender.

that added into another two defenders grabbing him and pulling him backwards=forward progress stopped.

i bet that the way the 9ers hold up a player so that other team mates can come in and try and strip the ball was discussed by the officiating crew before the game, and when it happened, the refs were right on top of it.

i know u just cant get over the fact the best team won yesterday, and u cant get over the fact it was not ruled a fumble, but it happened. nothing u say or do will change that. with how the giants have been absolutely destroyed by HORRIBLE officiating, I'm glad that for once, they got it right.

                          Re: Bradshaw's Fumble

I think this is the key. I have heard Perriera and others say the play ends when the official sees the play end with his eyes and decides it is over. The whistle and arm waving can happen after eyes detect the end of the play. So the whistle is not necessarily the end of the play.

did not like the call myself. The nfl seems to want Eli to succeed ,I will enjoy the free ride .Call it lucky whatever it may be.
