Odell is the kind of player who constantly puts enormous pressure on himself to perform ... and it looked to me that he went out there to prove to everyone that the trip that everyone talked about all week had absolutely no affect on him

and that added pressure to my eyes affected his performance

so indirectly I believe the trip absolutely affected his play

Part of his persona since the beginning. A guy bundling up chips to carry on his shoulders

I am not him so I don't get it. To me it is a little sad to need to do this to himself so that he can keep up the ne against the world facade to fuel his motivation

Have any of you ever tried catching a football in 5-10 degree weather? I am not saying he shouldn't have made those plays like Plax did in 2008 but is it out of the realm of possibilities that in the biggest game of his life, in the coldest weather he's ever played in, that he just had a bad game? If OBJ hasn't come up with big catch after big catch game after game season after season even after he went out and partied with Drake, Bieber and whoever else every other week, I would say some of you have a point. But I think the guy has earned a pass. Even if he makes those plays there is nothing guaranteed in terms of winning the game.

The other point here... if OBJ doesn't respond to the media, then he's got a bigger problem on his hands. The guy is a competitor and he competes with an attitude like so many greats over the decades. If you are asking that he provides the type of PC responses that Mac or Eli provides you all just don't understand OBJ.

Why can't we focus on strategy and the other 52 parts of the team as opposed to falling into the trap that the media sets for you. Aren't we Giants fans smarter than that?

We as a whole are way smarter than that. However, there are a few that just don't like the guy no matter what he does. That boat trip will be brought up by those few the first time he drops a ball. The other select few will try to tame his character when he celebrates a TD. I'm honestly done debating with those people about OBJ. Those people won't ever change their mind, so I say let them rot in their hell of misery. Let them ***** amongst themselves.

Lol, Analyst is gonna take that boat trip to his grave.

You know who else was on the boat? Victor Cruz. UTeam Cruz has been fleecing us for 7.5mil a year while he goes off cheating on his fiance. http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-...resses-2015710. His injuries did not prevent him from doing the nasty all over NY that is for sure. Where is all the cruz hate? Victor Cruz has 1,,,,, 1 TD ALL YEAR!!!! 1....Maybe if the giants brain trust had gotten King more reps he would be established...

Why is it the packers can have 4 very good WRs at all times, Heck there best wr goes down and they play even better....Yet beckham has 1 bad game and it is the end of everything...

Man if only someone else could step up.... Like say the patriots, ow wait they have a team with 4 RB and a schema that can get DANNY ANENDOLA a SB ring....... BOAT TRIP.BOAT TRIP.....You want to talk about boat trips? Tell me how edleman and ammendola and no gronk win a super bowl.!??

What would happen if Eli were to go down? Well Ill tell you. The same thing that happens EVERY TIME we lose a single starter....season over try again.

Loose phillips defense ruined. loose plax offence ruined. Loose Bradshaw (cant run the ball), lose DRC cant stop the packers...

In the super bowl the patriots had a fumble and a pick 6 and by there two star players....and still WON! Explain that! Explain how a boat trip and 3 dropped passes looses a game... go head tell me about a boat trip... Tell me how its NOT the fact that a single injury destroyed our D scheme. Tell me how the packers lost there best WR and got even better. Tell me what would happen if beckham goes down? Cruz gets yards like Cobb?? LOL .... Ok

Also tell me how first round draft talent Eli apple does not know how to defend a hail mary. Beckham has to do that to!

Beckham also has to return punt because even though each year we pay a specialist for punt returns they manage to stink at that. Darious Reynard we traded draft picks for that guy...lol

Why do you care that Cruz cheated on his wife? That is just what professional athletes do. I couldn't care less about his or any of their personal lives as they are not any of my business. With all due respect, your post has nothing to do with what is being discussed in this thread.

I'm just sick of this boat trip BS. On the offensive side of the ball I would say most of the giants players were on a boat trip all year long. Cruz aint no beckham, At 7.5 million produces 1 TD. And you cant be focused on football when your having to live a double life chasing tail.

If the boat made Beckham drop passes, maybe team Cruz was week in the knees from his extra curriculars. That is ACTUALLY a reasonable argument because relaxing on a boat wont cause you to play bad. But maybe just maybe running around on your wife causes you to play bad....AKA fall of tiger woods... Just saying, tired from late night rendezvous etc.

It is not the boat trip that affected Odel in that game it is the story of the boat trip

The photo and the story took on a national life of its own and the kid obviously felt an enormous amount of pressure to go out there and prove that the mini vacation would have no affect on his performance

the pressure from trying to prove this clearly had an affect on his focus

It had nothing to do with partying... taking flights.... staying out late bla bla bla .... it was the burning desire to prove it would have no affect

I can't hate on that because in the end it is still burning desire ... and you can't manufacture that

as I was once told as a young man after starting some trouble on a practice field .... I'd rather them have to tell you "whoa!" than "Sic'em,"

Come on, let's leave Michael Jackson out of this.
"Sir, I was wondering: did you happen to catch the professional football contest on television last night?"
                          "No...I didn't."
"Oh it was most exhilarating: the Giants of NY took on the Packers of Green Bay and in the end the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big H. It was a most ripping victory."
