Two players we passed on so that Spurrier could have his god damn Taylor Jacobs:

Osi Umenyiora (someone Snyder was high on, but Spurrier wanted Jacobs) and Anquan Boldin (someone Vinny Cerrato was high on, but again, f'en Spurrier wanted 'his' people)

    NYGRealityCheck:

No doubt Devin Hester and Maurine-Jones Drew turned out to be the top of that list.

But yea, drafts just turn out that way. You can't predict how well and motivated a college player will train and prepare himself for the NFL and what the outcome will be.

Scouts take care of the talent, no one takes care of determination.

If they redrafted the 06 draft, would MJD go in the top 10? Where would Bush go?

Honestly, I feel like they'd switch places completely.

Bush may still have a break out season. His rookie season was pretty impressive, and he was pretty seriously injured most of last season.

    Alford, Osi, Kiwi, and Tuck

Yes, MJD would be top 10 if that were to happen, knowing that he would turn out to be that good cause there are teams now that are still looking for a solid starting RB. (Jets)

Bush still showed he earned the 3rd overall pick cause he took the Saints to the NFC Championship in his rookie year.

And yea, another thing that is hard to predict are injuries as slipknot pointed out.

Except for Cadillac Williams. Poor Bucs...

I dunno, for 3rd overall pick, the dude better be my franchise back. Bush showed he couldn't even do that much last year when McCallister went down. You are right though, his rookie year was really good and he could potentially rebound from his sophomore slump.

oops my mistake, Bush was the No. 2 pick.

Looking back at the 06 NFL draft...

    A. Cromartie was 19th. So it wasn't like he came out of nowhere to became one of the top CBs in the game.

Eagles drafted Mr. give-up-a-lot-sacks Winston Justice at  No.38.

Eh, I still think Justice can become a very good LT. He has the physical ability, he just mentally was not ready for Osi.

So not only can Osi get into the backfield, he can get into people's heads too. Great!

i think drew brees took the saints to the champ game reggie was just along for the ride

reggie started out lookin good but mjd has had 2 great seasons and has stayed healthy and is a powerful runner (shaun merriman knows  first hand)

"roy williams fell down, BUT he's going to the probowl"- on Amani toomers big touchdown in divisional playoff game

came to my mind  for some reason, can you imagine how genius the 49 ers would of looked if they took frank gore at number 1 instead of alex smith, i bet 25 out of 32 teams wish they could redo the 2005 draft, damn near the whole top ten picks were busts, poor vikings

Yeah it was a BAD Draft for the Vikings to have 2 first-rounders...other than Ware, Merriman and Braylon Edwards that whole first round pretty well sucked.
