Those patriotic tattoos on his arms, his long curly blonde hair, the way he used to celebrate TDs in his earlier years (throw water bottle into stands, punt ball) , but most of all the way he owned Roy Williams like it was his sole purpose in life.

     Good luck Jeremy

    FBomb:

IMHO.............Shockey's fierceness on the field is what every football player should be, and the "helmetless" play epitomises that better than any play I can think of.  He sacrificed his body because he wanted to win so badly.

The fact is his fierce attitude spilled over to his off field persona and it rubbed some of you the wrong way. I will never understand why you would care about a football player not being politically correct.  I like my football players mean.

Oh well, he didn't want to be here so it was time for him to go.  I am a Giants fan and I will root against him when/if we're ever up against him.

Good luck Shock and I hope you find the happiness you couldn't find here.

    Well said!

Keeping with the spirit of the thread what I'll remember most is probably the way he would seek out somebody to lay into after a catch.

Do you have a dropped pass reel or a tantrum reel also....A penalty reel maybe? Lets compare em to the highlight reel you posted.

THAT was my first pick as most lasting Shockey memory. Our defense was godawful in the 2nd half of that game, granted. BUT if Shock had held on to that pass we would have won. And the way he seemed to LAUGH as he slapped his hands after the drop...

Of course I'll also remember that rookie season play where he just bowled over would-be tacklers.

This writing has been on the wall for a long time. He's gone; it's too bad that it had to happen AND I'm 100% OK with it. The initially unapparent but evidently thorough and radiating force of MANNING has transformed this team, shrinking the old guard to the wayside.

Re: The Send Off...................Your Shockey Memory

He did a sit-down interview on NFLN 2 seasons ago, and I've never heard him speak at length, so I'm wondering what he's got to say...
When he was done, I thought "You might be a redneck"...

But I always knew he was talented...

I hope I don't get torched for this, but Bavaro was no rocket scientist either...

Re: The Send Off...................Your Shockey Memory

The one play that sticks in my mind is the catch against the Eagles when he out jumped Dawkins for the TD then told Dawkins it was for Ike who Dawkins had earlier injured with a cheap shot.

This was the best, everyone's first memory, or should be first, of shockey and his potential to be on the giants
    16-0 would be sweet....

Re: The Send Off...................Your Shockey Memory

In week 7 of the 2005 season at Giants stadium v Denver ( when we were down 2 scores in the 4th )

    27 seconds remaining , 3rd and 10 on the Denver 32 ( we are down 23-17 )

Eli in shotgun ......fantastic pass to Shockey for 24 yards ...and he gets out of bounds at the Denver 8 yard line ......unforgettable

( then we obviously go on to win it with the winning TD pass to Toomer )

    brilliant memories !
