We will definately draft a corner and not late in the draft.

I will say what I have been saying foe several years.  We need playmakers on defense.  Not neccessarily at any particular position.  I think we did well with JPP last year.  I really think he's a potential great football player.

But we need back 7 help and we need speed.

Isn't that the reason we signed Rolle?

we shoulda went after that Atogwe kid from STL.. he's a playmaker

    Should have drafted Earl Thomas.

Investing two 1st round picks and then another huge contract into the Safety position is not good business. Not to mention we would have had to trade up to get him and he's too small to play for the Giants.

First of all he is a natural corner.  Mack Brown said that if he stayed for his senior year at Texas he would have played corner.

Second, he is PERFECT for the Fewell system.  He's an incredible ball hawk who is great facing the QB.  Yes, he went just before our pick and I was dissappointed because I think (despite Matts denials at the time) we would have taken him.  I think he was one of the top five players in that draft.

The Giants don't draft tiny players on defense. Regardless of how high you had him ranked, wasting excessive picks/money on safeties is not a good way to run a team. We wouldnt have drafted him to play corner, we wouldnt have drafted him to play safety. JPP was our guy all day at pick 15.

not convinved of that either... if McCLain or Spiller dropped, im not sure JPP would of been a giant

yea i thought we were taking spiller too, I was pretty vague, I meant between JPP and ET

If Thomas had dropped to us at 15, we would have taken him.

Was reading a chat done by the Giants beat writer Ohm on ESPN and he said Thomas will be starting next year and he thinks they will draft someone to compete with Webster. I guess I was shocked to read this. Is Webster really not working? I thought he was or best corner? I remember everyone talking about this a while ago...
what a mistake that would be. a rook competing with webster? come on now.

webster has totally declined whether u want to admit it or not.

but either way we should be drafting a CB if not to compete with Webster, but to replace Ross (who i was also right about)
great so add cb to the list of needs aswell.. seems we are pretty far away from  being a SB team..

well i agree that our secondary was overrated by us all this year. Deon Grant was a great pickup and Thomas had a really good year, but then to the other guys

Rolle was in the running for DMVP at one point and then totally regressed as the year went on. It seems he gave up at least 1 TD the past 4 games of the year for big gains.

Phillips, jesus god.  Lets hope he just isn't fully recovered from the injury because he was a GHOST this year.

    Ross - absolute garbage

Webster- Still good, but declining.  He isn't "the man" anymore and he is a big question mark in my eyes

but our LBs really didn't kill us this year. The DLine was so good (we need to resign cofield) that it helped Goff out who had a pretty good year and Boley had an outstanding year i thought.  Bulluck didn't have the worst year in the world, but Sintim def did. I think we missed on him. But overall i wouldn't say we have any panic at LB

OLine while they did good is getting old and beat up. We're going to have to do something about this and add more depth or sign someone

RB situation is a question mark too.  Who knows if we keep Jacobs at this money and who knows if we resign Bradshaw.

    OL - RB - CB

other then that i don't think we have much to do

    EDIT: Forgot about TE
lol tt DIDNT have a really good year. if you can find a stat who gave up the most completions, tds on the giants ill bet you 100 bucks tt name is number one on that list.

grant- was a big pickup, i want him back next year. very solid.

rolle- mehhh he was alright. not worth his contract imo

phillips was a ghost cause he was in the back field looking for ints and laying wood. phillips had a solid year minus the last 8 mins of the eagles game.

webster- had a pretty good year so stfu matt. Big Smile [:D]

lbs- gotta say i was pretty impressed with what we have/had. goff came along nicley, didnt think that would happen. boley was great, bulluck was good when he got some playing time and sintim really wasnt on the field, and i agree were ok at linebacker. you guys think well resign bulluck?

OL- like you said theyve gotten better in pass protection but regressed in the running game. we need some youth.

rb- ughh did any of you read one of the papers the other day with bj clearing out his locker?
"click, click, click, youre all taking pictures of brandon jacobs leaving, wondering if hes ever going to return. that will be your caption for tomorrow. well, *** you all."
yeaaa. doesnt sound so good. big question mark there.

te- eli beat the *** out of boss this year leading him into big hits and i think its starting to take effect. dropped passes, not very boss like. amazing one handed catch the other night. beckem sucks at blocking but is a legit receiving threat.

feel like were going to have a very different looking team next year

Webster is on the decline and its obvious to anyone that actually watched him this year...

Thomas was hot and cold, but when he was hot, which was alot more than he was cold, he was playing great. And he was showing up in the run.

Phillips laid wood this year? Now i know you really havne't watched. Going for interceptions? He had one, so he failed. It dont matter waht he was trying to do, it was all unsuccessful. And he didn't lay any wood this year.

na Bulluck is gone. He said if hes not full time hes not gonna return. Hes not gonna get full time.

Beckum needs to stop being listed as a TE because hes not
nooooooooooooooooooo. smh. he showed up against the run, ill give you that. tt can be a top  corner just like corey IF WE USE HIM RIGHT.

you have this thing where you think if someones name isnt being called hes not do his job. kenny was playing deep all season. see the lions game. teams really didnt try throwing the deep ball too much, the reason was kenny was back there

your hate for beckum is hysterical.

As for people agreeing with you. Two people did. One of whom was juice33, who imo is easily one of the biggest idiots on the forum. The other guy I havent seen post barely at all. If you consider that "half of the people agreeing with you" then boy you better work on crunching numbers a bit more.

Reese doesnt like undersized players. We have top to bottom the biggest secondary in the league, Earl is too small to be a Giant.

Not interested in the playoff fantasy thing. Tuition is due in a week.

Webster had a better year than Terrel this year. You were so confident that you said to take it to TAGF, curious as to why you dont mention that. Is it because the majority sided with Corey as well?

And thats why the reports are Giants were not happy wtih Websters play.... funny

and most of the responses were based on 07-08... go read it again...

and most agreed that Thomas had the better year and I would say that it was close enough that said Webster had the better year this year... all in all, my overall point was that Thomas has had two better years  i actually had more in agreement overall...

maybe not this year, but then again people on the boads thing that Jacobs is better than Bradshaw, ignorance is bliss
    its official, you are insane.

Sorry I was in meetings all day...

umm...are these ppl watching the same games as me??
Thomas is *** terrible. he'd probably be a better safety. he's like the complete opposite of a lockdown defender/shutdown corner....
In fact, i cringe any time someone throws his side. usually, my cringing is spot on...to say the very least.
I didnt see anything wrong with Webster this year. He got burned like maybe once or twice.

This is true.  My question is-if Rolle and Grant are so good.  Then why did we get burned so frequently this season(not only the skins game) in the middle.  It was routine for opposing teams to sustain drives while throwing short underneath routes on us.

Grant was used quite frequently as a "4th LB" in alot of our sets. Rolle, started off so great, declined, but then the last 5-6 games i noticed he was used on blitzes constantly. not sure if thats a reason for a secondary with holes, actually...but i dont know.

Linebackers didnt get enough depth on their drops.

    3rd ranked pass defense
    15th ranked run defense

    pass defense
    against #1 WRs - 2nd
    against #2 WRs - 7th
    against other receiver - 31st
    against TE - 3rd
    against HB - 11th

That TE # is mostly because of rolle.

I saw that when Rolle/Grant would come up into the box it worked very well for the run stop. I think these two guy's (who I do think are good, I was being sarcastic above) are actually more athletic than the lb's.  But we were getting sliced and diced in the pass over the middle
