This would include chat rooms, message boards and other interactive areas such as multimedia and contests.

Communicating in a chat room or on message boards is different from face-to-face communication. Only the words are seen, not your facial expressions or tone of voice. Please pay careful attention to how you use your words.

Remember that the words you enter in a burst of passion or indignant anger will be there for you and everyone else to see, sometimes long after those intense feelings have passed. That's not meant to discourage spontaneity, but just a friendly reminder of the long-term existence and effects of what you post.

You may, from time to time, find yourself in disagreement with someone else's opinion. At times like these, please keep in mind it's safer and more polite to take issue with the comments rather than the person.

By using the New York Giants' and Sportvision's service, you agree that you will not post any of the following material in chat rooms, bulletin boards, or other forums:

· Any communication that is intended to harass, belittle, humiliate, threaten or cause embarrassment to a fellow member.

· Material that contains vulgar, obscene or indecent language or images.

· Any communication that contains spam (multiple copies in one area or the same communication in multiple areas).

· Material that defames, abuses or threatens others.

· Statements that are bigoted, hateful or racially offensive.

· Material that advocates illegal activity or discusses illegal activities with the intent to commit them.

· Unauthorized copyrighted material.

· Advertising or any form of commercial solicitation.

· Material that impedes or otherwise prohibits communication; disrupts the discussion including, without limitation, using fan names in topical boards that are offensive to the topic, the team, the sport and/or its fans, and repeatedly posting off-topic messages in a topical message board.

Statements or postings that violate the above terms will be deleted from postings upon discovery. While we may attempt to notify you if we move or delete a post, we are under no obligation to do so. Depending on the nature of the violation, the New York Giants and/or Sportvision at their sole discretion may terminate a customer's account

Posting in correct forums

Guys/Girls,

Before you create a new thread, please remember to do so in the correct forum. We do not want every single topic thrown into TAGF simply because it's the most read forum. We have multiple forums for different subject matter, and it has been this way for quite some time, so most of you should know the basics by now, and what will and will not be tolerated. It gets old having to keep moving/deleting the same stuff over and over, and usually by the same people.

Any draft items about players, including mock drafts, should go in the Draft forum. Something about another team, or another sport, should go in General Sports. The rest should be fairly self-explanatory(Smack, Entertainment, etc..)

All of us would greatly appreciate it if you would all try to be a bit more aware of what you're posting, and in which forum. It is not always easy keeping up with all of the activity around here, and we like knowing that some of you guys are willing to help us out in some small way, just by paying attention to what you're doing when here. If there is a thread already started about something, don't make another one. If it's not about the Giants, or even football, don't post it in TAGF. Simple stuff like that really makes a difference, and all it takes is a quick scan of the boards to see if someone beat you to the punch.

Thanks for listening!
Posting of Photos

Fans,

There should be no photos that are sexual in nature. The best way is to send a private message. For those who do not know how to do this, it's very simple:

On top of every post, there is a contact button, which opens into a pull-down menu. The option is there to either send an email or send a private message to the post author. When you click the option to send a private message, another screen will come up in which you would type your message. It is very similar to sending someone an email. The message will go to that persons' Inbox. All posters have this option. Your Inbox can be found in the top right corner, right near the Sign Out button. Clicking it will show you if you have any messages from other posters, again much like an email account.

The other option is to send an email to giantsboards@gmail.com

Starting threads in order to get our attention is strongly discouraged. If you have a problem/complaint, the last thing we want to see is a new thread started for you and everyone else to jump into. They usually get ridiculously out of hand and most of the time, someone ends up getting banned for it.

Hope this clears up any confusion

Mod Team

Masking profanity

We have a very strict policy about using profanity anywhere on these

political discussions, racial or ethnic slurs, stalking, serious
harrassment, or any type of truly offensive discussions or actions will
ever be tolerated. If you see anyone engaging in this type of abuse,
please realize that there is a "Report Abuse" button in the lower right
side of every post. Only one post per thread needs to be reported for
a mod to look at the entire thread and take necessary action. Please
realize that abusing this feature is a form of abuse, and following
other users around to see what they are posting about other people for
the sole purpose of reporting them to the mods is a form of stalking,
and IS a bannable offense. We mods make every effort to review every
thread, and the "report abuse" option is there to help us find a
objectionable and bannable posting before too many people see it. We
ask that you help us by using it in a responsible fashion.

If
you are citing a fact, you must provide a link. Many people come here
to get all sorts of Giants news, and even NFL news in general. So post
a link or don't post at all. If you saw it in the newspaper, all
newspapers have websites now. Find it before you post it. If you saw
it on TV, all tv stations have websites now, and the video is probably
on the site. If not, at least try to find it, and if you can't, then
you can say exactly what channel and program you saw it on. As an
example that didn't happen yet, saying "Haynesworth signed by the
Giants for the league minimum!" will only piss off a lot of users.
Saying that you saw this on the Bob Papa radio show on April Fool's Day
might actually clarify it. People want to know where they are getting
the news from.

Copying and pasting PORTIONS of external sources
is fine. Posting links to other sites is fine (and as said above is
mandatory.) Posting ANY external source in its entirety is a violation
of copyright laws for which the Giants will be held responsible. Don't
do it. Similarly, discussing in public forums where to obtain
recordings of any type of video, including games, movies, DVDs of the
Giants, etc. and where to stream the games if you're out of market is
also a potential violation of copyright laws for which the Giants will
be held responsible. If you are on these boards, you are on the
Giants' intellectual property, and as such you must realize that the
Giants are ultimately responsible for all content on these boards.
None of this will be tolerated.

Masking profanity has been going
on for far too long. If you need to say "***", then type "***" and
let the built in filter do its job, as it did here. As an example,
typing "f**k" is bannable. Typing "***" and letting the filter work
is not.

Please keep sig sizes to the width of the page maximum, and no pictures of ladies are allowed. Sorry guys.

Understand
that this is a message board, where people from all ages come to talk
about Giants Football. By definition, people will not always agree on
every issue. We ask that you all respect everyone else's right to have
and voice their own opinion. However, if you expect people to respect
your opinion, then you need to understand that respect must be earned,
whether on a message board, or out on the street.

If someone is
calling you an idiot, they are not committing a bannable offense, and
therefore they are not abusing you. They are giving you the right to
voice your opinion, and they are letting you know that you have not yet
earned their respect. If you feel like certain people are insulting
you with these types of words, then the best advice we mods can give
you is to avoid those people. There are over 40,000 members here, most
of them Giants fans, and I'm sure someone else will treat you better.

These
rules are in place to make these boards a more fun and friendly place
for everyone. We mods aren't out to get anyone (except a certain clown
that keeps cloning himself) and we certainly don't get paid for what we
do. We are volunteering our time and efforts out of a common love for
Giants football, and respect for the boards. Please help us by
following these very simple rules. Most of all, use common sense.

Thanks,

Mod Team
Posting links to illegal sites

Folks,

It has become apparent that more and more websites are being created for the purpose of streaming NFL games over the internet. While this may be a welcome sight for a lot of people outside of the NY area who can't see the games, those sites are illegal. NFL games are not to be rebroadcast in any way, shape, or form without permission. The Giants organization could potentially find itself in serious trouble if links to such sites are posted on this message board, so please do not post them or advertise them in your signatures. If you want to use them, you will have to Google them, but do not post links anywhere on these boards. Bans will be handed out for those who continue to do so.

We have a Rivals forum if you'd like to engage in FOOTBALL RELATED smack talk. If that is your only purpose for being here, please turn around and go into the Rival Central forum. This is Talk About Giants Football, where we hold discussions about our team without interference from opposing fans looking to start trouble. If you'd like to join in our conversations here in TAGF, feel free, but it KEEP IT CIVIL. Otherwise, your account will be closed without warning and you'll be sent on your way. We have a Zero Tolerance policy on starting trouble, regardless of team affiliation, and opposing fans are generally on a shorter leash than our regular posters, so please think before you post. You are a guest in our house. Please act accordingly.

There also seems to be a bit of confusion as to just what is considered profanity and what isn't. I'll do my best to explain it once again and for the final time.

There is a language filter embedded in this forum software. It censors out almost any foul or innapropriate language that gets typed. It does NOT catch every single thing, unfortunately, but like anything else, it is not perfect and we try to keep it updated. When a word is censored out by the filter, it will look like this

***

This is what we are trying for, folks. This is what it should look like when a word is typed out and spelled correctly. There are some folks who report posts to us and claim they contain profanity, but the profanity has been blocked out with *** This is not profane and should not be reported.

When words are deliberately misspelled or symbols are added in place of letters just to get around the filter, also known as "masking"(Examples: M@sking, Ma$king) this is not only childish and stupid, but it is a guaranteed way to get yourself suspended from the boards for a minimum of 1 week. We've seen every excuse, ranging from "My emotions got the best of me and I blurted it out" to "This is a free country and I'll say whatever I want" This is private enterprise. You are hanging out on property owned and operated by the New York Giants, folks, and free speech does not apply here. You are not having verbal conversations with people here, and therefore, you aren't really "blurting" anything out. You are typing, and that is something you are suuposed to be able to control and should know enough to either censor yourself or hit the backspace key a few times. It's really a very simple concept: Keep it clean or you will simply not post here anymore, under any account. If you are suspended/banned for whatever reason and you are found to have started a new account, all accounts get closed. End of story

To show that we're not unreasonable people, everyone will get a clean slate. However, if you are caught using profanity, the following will go into effect immediately

1st offense - 1 week suspension

2nd offense - 1 month suspension

3rd offense - Permanent IP/Account(s) ban

We will be keeping records of everyone who decides to cross the line. There is absolutely no reason to ever use bad language here, regardless of how angry/excited you get over the games. It's going to stop one way or another, so either accept it as a condition of posting here or move on to some other forum that allows uncensored free speech.

Please take this seriously, because contrary to popular belief, none of us enjoys banning fellow fans from the boards. It doesn't have to happen if you simply use your head and think before posting.

Thanks for listening

Please take a few moments to read it, as it will be strongly enforced.

These are the terms of use that every member using interactive areas of this site agrees to adhere to.

Personal attacks will not be tolerated anywhere on these forums at any time. Keep any squabbles with another member to Private Messages. If you are found to be making threats of violence of any kind in a PM or on the boards, your account will be permanently banned without warning. Be considerate and use common sense before posting so that everyone can enjoy the forums. If you have an issue with another member, notify a member of the Moderating team via PM or email.

· Material that contains vulgar, obscene or indecent language or images. There is a language filter in place to prevent any type of vulgar or obscene language. Deliberately misspelling words or adding additional letters or symbols to any words with the intent of getting around the filter, no matter how innocent you may think it is, will result in a 10 day suspension from the forum. Doing so more than once will result in a lifetime ban. There are no loopholes and absolutely no exceptions to this rule. The only way to avoid it is to type the words as you normally would and allow the filter to do its job. Posting pictures that contain vulgar or indecent language or posting links to audio/video clips that contain inappropriate language or images is also strictly prohibited and will result in a lengthy suspension or an outright ban, depending on the severity. Fair warning has been given.

· Any communication that contains spam (multiple copies in one area or the same communication in multiple areas). Posting links to other forums with the sole intent of drawing more traffic to that forum is prohibited.

· Material that defames, abuses or threatens others(see above regarding personal attacks)

· Statements that are bigoted, hateful or racially offensive. This will result in an immediate lifetime ban

· Imitating a Moderator via username or using an avatar to depict yourself as a Moderator will result in a lifetime ban. Also, attacking Moderators publicly anywhere on the forums will result in your removal. If you have an issue with a Moderator, take it up with them directly via PM or email.

· The only valid email to contact the moderators: giantsboards@gmail.com

· Moderators can only provide support if a user account is in some way corrupted or password has been lost. We cannot help you use your web browser or if you have any computer issues, as that is out of the scope of our support.

· Material that advocates illegal activity or discusses illegal activities with the intent to commit them.

· Unauthorized copyrighted material. This includes any articles that are copied and pasted from any sources. Articles written and published by other entities are copyrighted and are not permitted to be posted on these forums at any time. A short summary and a link to an article is acceptable. This rule also covers any type of article from a paid subscription site such as ESPN Insider and any other outlet that charges a fee to read the material. You will be suspended immediately for violating this rule.

· Advertising or any form of commercial solicitation. Posting links with the sole intention of getting more traffic to another site will not be tolerated. Members are permitted to post a link in their signature area

· Continuously posting off-topic material in the incorrect forum(s) is not permitted and will result in a suspension of the users’ account. Talk About Giants Football is for just that: Giants Football discussion. This does NOT include posts about FA players that have signed elsewhere. We have several other forums to cover just about any type of sports related discussion. Post in the correct forums at all times. We will hand out suspensions for repeat offenders. Also, BEFORE YOU POST, READ THE FORUMS to make sure that what you are posting hasn't already been posted. Political or Religious discussion is not permitted anywhere on this forum at any time.

× “Trolling” or making statements that are obviously designed to irritate or enrage other posters is not permitted at any time. This behavior, regardless of post count or length of time on the boards, will NOT be tolerated. Punishment for such behavior may range from suspensions with post count removal to a lifetime banning of an account and/or IP address. Further warning will not be given from this point on. Banned accounts will not be un-banned
× If a post is moved or deleted, you will receive an email at the address you registered with automatically from the forum software, notifying you of the action taken. It is suggested that you check this email account if you notice that something you posted is not where it once was, as you will get the information from the email that is sent. DO NOT START A THREAD ASKING WHERE YOUR POST WENT OR WHY IT WAS DELETED!
I've noticed on this board and others that people are, once again, looking at the Giants.com depth chart as the 'official' depth chart during the offseason. THIS IS NOT THE CASE!

As some of you who have been coming to Giants.com for a few years now know, THERE IS NO OFFICIAL DEPTH CHART DURING THE OFFSEASON. The depth chart you see from the last game of the season until the start of training camp reflects the following:

All ACTIVE players as of the last regular season game. Players on IR are NOT displayed on the depth chart, therefore Michael Strahan would NOT be seen.

With regard to free agency, we remove Giants free agents once they sign with another team, so even though a player may not be under contract, he may still appear if he has not signed with another team. Obviously, there are players who become FAs, but are still being pursued by the Giants, so we don't just remove every FA since we know we're going to want to re-sign some/all of them.

Tiki Barber is retired, so he was removed from the player database. The depth chart, which is still pulling players' names from the last game of the season, will simply move players up once a player like Tiki, who is no longer in the database, is removed.

I think I covered it all. If there are any loopholes, relply to this and I'll either admit to some mistake or flaw in the system or try to clarify further.

Bottom line - PLEASE don't consider our depth chart during the offseason and DON'T jump to conclusions.

Thanks,

wasn't.

Justin Tuck said it
wasn't. And then said again it
wasn't.

Well, it is.

The Giants have unveiled their Super
Bowl XLVI ring and, much as some of the players denied the leaked pictures
weren't the real deal, the fact is they were.

“After a few meetings, Tiffany came up with several different options that
they showed us and you kind of picked from there,” quarterback Eli Manning said
in the press release the team sent out this morning. “We wanted it to be little
different than the last ring.”

That ring was a
“10-table” monstrosity that had no colored stones. This year's ring is also
white gold but more rounded and has blue sapphires on the top around the “NY”
logo and four Lombardi Trohies to represent the four the franchise has won.

“The blue makes it a little different,” Manning said. “We wanted some blue -
the Giants are Big Blue. We definitely wanted to get a little blue to spark it
up a little bit.”

The lower palm of the shanks includes the years of the four Super Bowl
seasons: 1986, 1990, 2007 and 2011.

“We wanted it to represent the four
trophies and have that feeling that you made the best ring that you could have
made,” Tuck said. “I think we captured that.”

A feature of the ring that hadn't been revealed until today is the engraving
of “Finish” and “All In” on the inside of the ring. Those were key phrases the
team repeatedly uttered last season - the first a mantra Coughlin introduced in
training camp and the second the words of Union City's Gian-Paul Gonzalez, who
brought the poker phrase to the players late in the season to inspire
them.

“We wanted to get a few things that were significant to this season –
(including) ‘Finish’ on the inside,” Manning said. “Things like that make the
ring special.”

Four years ago, the Giants put the words “Eleven straight on the road” on the
side of their rings as a nod to their road winning streak that season. This
year, they wanted to commemorate the way they closed the season with wins
against the Jets and Dallas Cowboys, followed by postseason victories over the
Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers and New England
Patriots.

“We definitely wanted ‘Finish,’ we definitely wanted ‘All In,’” Tuck said.
“Those were two things we prided ourselves on, not only during the season, but
especially through the playoff run. And we won games that way. So we definitely
wanted those in there.”

The rings will be presented to the players this evening during a private
ceremony at Tiffany & Co.'s flagship store on Fifth Ave. in Manhattan.

“We took in a lot of opinions. We all came to a decision to make this ring
our ring, because everyone loved it,” Tuck said. “When Tiffany brought it in the
last day, there was silence because everyone was thinking, 'Wow.' It really
captured everything we wanted to capture in the ring. Coach Coughlin was adamant
about having 'World Champions' on it. Plus they did a great job designing the
ring to fit around our fingers and really look good on your hand – not just
having a big, ostentatious ring on your hand. They worked on the balance of the
ring when it’s on your hand. I think Tiffany did a great job.”

Said special teams captain Zak DeOssie, “I couldn’t be happier with
everything about the ring. It’s absolutely beautiful.”

LT. COL GREG GADSEN VOWS TO REMAIN INSPIRATION FOR GIANTS, DESPITE MIKE SULLIVAN'S DEPARTURE

"Lt. Col. Greg Gadson, a double amputee who lost his legs in Iraq, was
introduced to the Giants in 2007 by his friend and former Army football
teammate Mike Sullivan. For the four seasons since he gave a few speeches to the
Super Bowl XLII champs, he's been an inspiration for the Giants' players and coaches.

Which leads us to an interesting point for Gadson: Sullivan
is now the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, meaning
Gadson's allegiances will seemingly be split for this upcoming season,
particularly on Sept. 16 when the Bucs come to MetLife Stadium.

Apparently, that's not the case and it's an easy decision for Gadson. While
he'll be pulling for Sullivan to find success in Tampa, he'll remain a supporter
of the Giants.

"I’m here with the Giants and Mike’s one of my best friends and I’m certainly
going to continue to talk with him," Gadson said on Tuesday night. "Whether I’m
giving speeches to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or not, that’s probably not going to
happen."

Gadson spoke to reporters in the USS Intrepid Museum before a screening of
the movie Battleship, in which he makes his acting debut. Gadson had
never even thought about acting before director Peter Berg called him about two
years ago. Gadson said Berg "is a New Yorker and was obviously tangentially
aware of my story," and also read about Gadson in a January 2010 National
Geographic article about advancements in prosthetics.

Three months later, Berg told Gadson he wanted him in his upcoming movie.

"Now obviously, when I said that, I was kind of going, 'Okay, well let’s see
how far this goes,'" Gadson said. "Eventually they’re going to find out I’ve
never acted and I can’t act and they’ll say, 'Thanks but no thanks,' and go in
another direction. Obviously, it didn’t quite turn out that way and I’m
here."

Gadson was reluctant to speak about his role in the movie, as it seems he
didn't want to give away too many plot points. In other words, his role sounds
like it's a significant one.

"It’s not like a cameo shot," he said. "I’m kind of intertwined in the
story."

Justin Tuck, appearing at the screening to represent SUBWAY, was
impressed.

"I saw his SWAG card," Tuck said, borrowing one of Antrel Rolle's go-to
words. "I call it SWAG. I know it’s spelled SAG (Screen Actors Guild), but I
call it SWAG because anybody that has a…"

Tuck trailed off at this point because he had a whole sarcastic shtick going
through his whole session with reporters and was out of gas by this point.

"Yeah, you get it," he said. "You’re smart enough to follow that."

More than seven years around us and he still overestimates our
intelligence...

* * * *

Some leftovers from Tuck and also from the United Way Gala, at which Giants
guard Chris Snee was honored:

Tuck on being a
nutso Rangers fan and neglecting the Devils who, you know, play in the state
in which he works and lives: "I tell you this – and I get this a lot on
Twitter. Everybody’s like, ‘Remember where you play, where you live …’ It’s a
simple thing for me. When I became an East Coaster, the first hockey game I went
to was a Ranger game. It had nothing to do with my dislike for the Devils. I’m
not one of these hockey fans that love just one team and can’t root for the
Devils. If the Devils so happen to beat the Rangers in this series I’ll root for
the Devils to win it. I’m not a Devils fan, but I’ll root for them to win it.
It’s kind of like the Knicks and the Nets. I’m a Nets fan, but I love the
Knicks."

Snee on the honor: "I like to do off the field work and not
really get noticed for it, it’s just the way I’ve always been. If someone asks
me if I want a camera there I say no. It’s an honor, a lot of guys who do a lot
of great work have been honored with this same award."

Snee on his elbow: "I had elbow surgery, I feel good, I’ve
been gaining my strength back and doing some work on the field. I’ll be back
there next week for OTAs. Good to go."

WR Hakeem Nicks on WR Rueben Randle, the team's second-round
pick: "I got to see him a little bit today. We ran some routes. He
seemed like a pretty humble kid. It seems like he’s ready to come to work and
play football."

Nicks on Randle fitting in with a humble, soft-spoken group of
receivers: "Right. That’s not our game. We play on the field, less
talk. I think he can bring that as well."

OL Kevin Boothe on
the Super Bowl ring that may
or may not be real: "I’m a fan of it. It doesn’t take much to
please me when it comes to Super Bowl rings. The more the merrier, let’s go
ahead and get another one."

* * * *

And finally, I'm not sure why but former Giants RB Brandon Jacobs tweeted on
Tuesday night he won't be
attending tonight's ring ceremony at Tiffany & Co."

GIANTS' JUSTIN TUCK SAYS THERE ARE NO "FLAMES" AROUND OSI UMENYIORA'S CONTRACT SITUATION YET

"Justin Tuck was about to walk into a theater inside the USS Intrepid Museum,
where he’d see explosions, fireballs, launched missiles and all kinds of action
in a screening of the movie “Battleship.”

So as he discussed the brewing standoff between fellow defensive end Osi
Umenyiora and the Giants’ front office, he expressed hope a more peaceful
scenario would play out for a group of players learning to deal with what’s
become an annual situation.

“It ain’t that we don’t care. We just understand it’s a part of the game, and
why make it bigger than what it is?” said the defensive captain, appearing at
the screening for Subway, a sponsor of the movie starring the Giants’
inspirational figure Lt. Col. Greg Gadson. “You can add fuel to a fire and make
it huge. Right now, it’s just smoke, you don’t even see the flames yet. So we’d
like to keep it that way.”

Of course, Umenyiora’s situation remains a threat to ignite at any
moment.

Unhappy with his contract for about four years now, Umenyiora has been
skipping the Giants’ offseason workouts. In fact, a few of his teammates believe
he’s the only one who hasn’t made an appearance at the team’s facility this
spring.

Umenyiora and general manager Jerry Reese have traded public claims about
contract offers – Reese says Umenyiora has been offered one each of the past few
years, while the two-time Pro Bowl selection claimed the latest proposal
included half of the guaranteed money Mathias Kiwanuka recently received – and
Umenyiora recently opened a Twitter account on which he’s made a few vague
references to his contract status.

At this point, it’s unclear if Umenyiora will show for the team’s mandatory
minicamp next month or if he’ll take part in tonight’s ceremony at Tiffany &
Co. in Manhattan, during which the players and coaches will receive their
rings.

“If he tweets me a picture of his son doing something,” Tuck said when asked
if he believes he’ll see Umenyiora soon. “Or he thinks he has better abs than me
and stuff like that.

“You know, Osi’s weird. He’ll send a man a picture and all types of
stuff.”

Say what now?

“He tweeted some pictures of his son doing my ‘Tuck bow,’” Tuck said,
referring to the celebration he does after each sack. “And I told him, ‘Hey,
your son is smarter than you. He recognizes a real football player when he sees
one.’”

But would he recognize a real ring?

What we mean is Tuesday punter Steve Weatherford became the third Giants
player to tweet
a picture of the Giants’ supposed ring. In March, Clint Sintim and Andre
Brown posted pictures of the same ring, which has four Lombardi Trophies and a
Giants logo surrounded by blue sapphire stones on top.

After Sintim’s tweet, which the linebacker quickly deleted, Tuck tweeted the
design hadn’t been finalized.

“I’ve seen that before. It doesn’t look like that, actually,” he said when
shown Weatherford’s tweet. “You want to know why? Because y’all got the wrong
picture. I told y’all it was the wrong picture (in March), and I thought I lied
when I said that. That’s not our ring.”

Was he telling the truth? Like the mystery of whether Umenyiora will make an
appearance on the “blue carpet” on Fifth Ave., Tuck replied, “You’ll find
out.”
MARK BAVARO: GIANTS K MATT BAHR DIDN'T KNOW WHERE HE WAS DURING GAME-WINNING KICK VS. 49ERS IN 1991

"Mark Bavaro doesn't see a way the game can be made less physical unless they
return to the days without helmets and face masks, where players would be
completely discouraged from leading with their heads.

But amid a continued push to decrease the long-term effects of head injuries,
he sees a safer version of football, at least. Something far different than what
he knew 20 years ago.

During a brief session with reporters at the Yankees' Pinstripe Bowl charity
golf outing in Monroe Township Tuesday, he shared a cautionary story from the
1990-91 NFC Championship game.

Kicker Matt Bahr sustained a concussion earlier during a tackle on a kickoff.
By the time he trotted out for the game-winning kick, he needed assistance and
was not entirely sure of his location.

"Matt Bahr, when he kicked the winning field goal against San Francisco in
1990, I don't think he knew where he was," Bavaro said. "He'd tackled somebody
on a kickoff return earlier in the game and he was kind of out of it.

"Steve DeOssie had to kind of, actually, guide him on the field and line it
up. But you know, that was regular stuff back then. Matt was a great guy, a
tough guy, and we certainly appreciated him coming out and doing that for us.
But I don't think that stuff happens today."

Bavaro said he's just a fan now and allows his son, a linebacker, to play
football even though he doesn't see anything changing.

"I don't know that you can make it less physical, it's football. I think
you'd have to do away with the sport. I don't think that's going to happen," he
said. "I certainly wouldn't want to see it happen."

Here's a video of Bahr's game-winning kick."
http://www.nj.com/giants/

NY DAILY NEWS

SUPER BOWL CHAMPS WILL HAVE A FAMILIAR RING

"Ten tables wasn’t big enough for Justin Tuck. He wanted his second Super Bowl
ring to be bigger than that.

“(Michael Strahan) talked about the
’10-table ring,’” Tuck said. “He wanted a ring you could see from 10 tables
away.

“I talked about the ‘Restaurant Ring.’ I wanted one that was big
enough to see throughout whatever restaurant you go in and see it from each
corner.”

The result is the Super Bowl XLVI championship rings that Tuck
and the Giants will be presented Wednesday night at a private ceremony inside
Tiffany & Co. in Manhattan. The design, which features diamond replicas of
the franchise’s four Super Bowl trophies inside a ring blue sapphires, was
officially revealed on Wednesday morning.

Tuck and the other two Giants
captains who were in on the design – Eli Manning and Zak DeOssie – sounded
thrilled.

“When Tiffany brought (the design) in the last day, there was
silence because everyone was thinking, ‘Wow,’” Tuck said in a statement released
by the team. “It really captured everything we wanted to capture in the
ring.”

“I couldn’t be
happier with everything about the ring,” DeOssie added. “It’s absolutely
beautiful.”

The design of the white gold ring is exactly
what was leaked in late March and again on Tuesday by several Giants players
– the design Tuck said Tuesday night was “not our ring” and that the team
continually insisted was only preliminary. The big difference between this one
and the one the Giants got for their Super Bowl XLII championship is the use of
the color blue.

“The blue makes it a little different,” Manning said.
“We wanted some blue. The Giants are Big Blue. We definitely wanted to get a
little blue to spark it up a little bit.”

There are 37 blue sapphires
ringing the face of the ring. There is also blue enamel outline of the Giants’
“ny” logo in the center, just in front of the four Lombardi trophies – each one
set with a marquis diamond in the shape of a football. The words “2011 World
Champions New York Giants” are printed on the ring around the face – apparently
at the insistence of Tom Coughlin.

“Coach Coughlin was adamant about
having ‘World Champions’ on it,” Tuck said.

The players were adamant
about making it personal for the 2011 Giants, too. Inside each ring are engraved
the words “Finish” and “All In.”

“We wanted to get a few things that
were significant to this season – (including) ‘Finish’ on the inside,” Manning
said. “Things like that make the ring special.”

“We definitely wanted
‘Finish,’ we definitely wanted ‘All In,’” Tuck said. “Those were two things we
prided ourselves on, not only during the season, but especially through the
playoff run. And we won games that way. So we definitely wanted those in
there.”

The rest of the ring includes the words Super Bowl XLVI and the
final score of the game “NYG 21 NE17” on one side, and each players’ name on the
other. The bottom of the ring lists the Giants’ four Super Bowl seasons – 1986,
1990, 2007 and 2011.

Also, as much as Tuck wanted
a “Restaurant Ring,” he indicated that the design of this one might make it a
little more wearable than the one he got four years ago.

“They did a
great job designing the ring to fit around our fingers and really look good on
your hand – not just having a big, ostentatious ring on your hand,” Tuck said.
“They worked on the balance of the ring when it’s on your hand. I think Tiffany did a great
job.”

TUCK WON'T FAN THE FLAMES OF OSI'S CONTRACT FEUD

"Justin Tuck has seen and heard all this before, so no, he’s not at all worried
about Osi Umenyiora’s contract problems. He hasn’t seen Umenyiora around the
Giants’ facility lately and he doesn’t expect to see him anytime soon, but he
doesn't see any problem.

All Tuck knows for sure is that whatever
happens between Umenyiora and the Giants, it won’t be a distraction to the
defending champs.

“It ain’t that we don’t care,” Tuck said on Tuesday
night from aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid in Manhattan, where he was attending a
Subway-sponsored screening of the movie Battleship. “We just understand
it’s a part of the game. And why make it bigger than what it is? You can add
fuel to a fire and make it huge. Right now it’s just smoke. You don’t even see
the flames yet. So we’d like to keep it that way.”

Umenyiora has done a
decent job of not fanning those flames the last few weeks, ever since the
weekend of the NFL draft when he accused Giants GM Jerry Reese of trying to make
him look like “a greedy pig” by saying Umenyiora had twice turned down contract
extensions. The defensive end promised after that, in an email to the Daily
News, that he no longer planned to discuss the subject. And other than a few
vague references on his newly opened Twitter account, he’s done what he said
he’d do.

He’s been using his Twitter account for other purposes, though,
like wishing Eagles running back LeSean McCoy a “Happy
Mother’s Day.”

Said Tuck: “I think it was just his ploy to get more
followers.”

It apparently worked.

***
Rings are spectacular, but maybe not
real

Remember that picture
of the Super Bowl XLVI rings that Steve Weatherford Tweeted earlier? The
same pictures, pretty much, Tweeted in late March by Andre Brown and Clint
Sintim?

Fake, says Tuck

“I’ve seen that before,” Tuck said when
he was shown the Weatherford picture. “(The real ring) doesn’t look like that,
actually. You want to know why? Because y’all got the wrong picture. I told
y’all it was the wrong picture (in late March), and you thought I lied when I
said that.

"That’s not our ring.”

Really? Well, there were three of us there
listening to Tuck talk and it was impossible to tell if he was serious or not.
At one point he even claimed not to know the Giants were getting their rings on
Wednesday night because he was busy making plans to go to the Rangers game
instead.

So were the pictures real? Is Tuck lying? Does he even know for
sure?

“You’ll find out,” Tuck said.

***
Tuck enjoying the Rangers’ run

Tuck has been
going to Rangers games since 2005, but nobody noticed until last week when Brad
Richards scored to tie Game 5 against the Capitals with 6.6 seconds remaining
and the Giants’ defensive end … went a little nuts.

“Yeah,” Tuck said.
“I lost my mind.”

Tuck, seated just behind the Rangers bench,
was caught on camera jumping up, raising his arm, and running up the aisle as
Madison Square Garden erupted around him. He’s been seen at several games during
the Rangers playoff run, celebrating wildly and even banging on the
glass.

“It’s funny because I’ve been to a lot of Ranger
games,” Tuck said Tuesday night while aboard the USS Intrepid for a screening of
the movie Battleship. “And until I banged on the (glass behind the) home bench,
no one ever noticed me. Now I’m like the greatest Ranger fan
ever.

“No I’m not, but I definitely root for the Rangers and
am definitely going to try my best to get to as many of those playoff games as I
can.”

Tuck’s loyalty to his adopted hometown team has caused
him a few problems – particularly from fans on Twitter who like to remind him
that he plays and lives in New Jersey, home of the
Devils.

“It’s a simple thing for me,” said Tuck, an Alabama
native. “When I became an East Coaster, the first hockey game I went to was a
Ranger game. It had nothing to do with my dislike for the Devils. I’m not one of
these hockey fans that love just one team and can’t root for the
Devils.

“If the Devils so happen to beat the Rangers in this
series I’ll root for the Devils to win it. I’m not a Devils fan, but I’ll root
for them to win it.”

***
Lt. Col. Gadson: From sidelines to the silver
screen

Tuck wasn’t the real
star attraction on board the Intrepid on Tuesday night. The star was Lt. Col.
Greg Gadson, the inspirational speaker and presence on the Giants’ sidelines
since their Super Bowl XLII. The Iraq War vet – and double amputee – has a
significant role in the movie Battleship, which also stars Brooklyn Decker, Liam
Neeson and Rihanna.

The screening, sponsored by Subway, was being held
for alumni of the Wounded Warrior Project, which directs programs that help
injured members of the military.

The movie Battleship, directed
by Peter Berg, officially opens on Friday."

THE SUPER BOWL RING IS THE THING FOR THE GIANTS

"The Jets can have their three-ring circus. All the Giants need is the
ring.

Those championship rings, which will feature all four of the
franchise’s Super Bowl trophies inside a ring of blue, will be given to the
Super Bowl XLVI champions at a private ceremony at Tiffanys in Manhattan on
Wednesday night. But
punter Steve Weatherford provided his Twitter followers a sneak peek at the
jewelry on Tuesday.

The ring, according to the picture provided to
players, is made of 14-karat white gold and is covered with diamonds – and
diamond footballs – surrounded by a sapphire band. In all there are 1.36 carats
in diamonds and 1.11 carats in sapphires. The words “New York Giants 2011 World
Champions” surround the face of the ring.

The design – which appears
identical to the preliminary version Tweeted by Giants linebacker Clint Sintim
and running back Andre Brown in late March – also features the Giants’ “ny” logo
outlined in blue with the four Super Bowl trophies hovering behind it. The blue
sapphires represent a big change from the rings the Giants earned by winning
Super Bowl XLII after the 2007 season. Those rings had no color at
all.

On one side of each of the Super Bowl XLVI rings will be each
player’s name and number. The other side will feature “GIANTS” in block letters
above the Super Bowl XLVI logo and the final score of the game
(21-17).

And as Weatherford said in his Tweet: “She sure is
pretty.”

The ring ceremony won’t be the last time the Giants celebrate
their championship season together. The team has also been invited for the
traditional champions’ visit to the White House as guests of President Barack
Obama. A date for that has not been set, though it’s expected to take place next
month."

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/giant

NY POST

GIANTS TO RECEIVE SUPER BOWL RINGS TONIGHT

"Giants ownership, front office and the three team captains all had input on
the design of their Super Bowl XLVI championship rings. Tom Coughlin, the very
proud head coach, offered only one suggestion that he really wanted to see
inscribed.

“I’ve been in all the meetings,’’ Coughlin said last night at the 19th annual
Gridiron Gala at the Waldorf-Astoria, where Giants guard Chris Snee was among
the honorees. “I think the players and the others had their statements based on
the last one and what we thought would improve from the last time. They asked
me, [and] I said I would like one thing on there: ‘World Champions.’
’’

Coughlin got his wish, and, along with the entire organization, he gets to
bask in the afterglow tonight when the Giants at long last get their
championship rings at a ceremony at Tiffany’s flagship store on Fifth
Avenue.

“It will be exciting for everybody, no doubt,’’ Coughlin said. “That’s the
symbol, you know? In your heart it’s already been established. I look forward to
it, I think it’s going to be very festive. Let’s face it, now it’s twice in a
lifetime. It’s a wonderful thing to do it again.’’

A sneak preview of the ring was posted last month on Twitter by linebacker
Clint Sintim and another yesterday by punter Steve Weatherford. The prize
hardware is a 14k white gold 30 MM ring with surrounding diamonds, sapphire band
(to represent Giants’ blue) and diamond footballs.

“Big and obnoxious, that’s always the goal,’’ joked guard Kevin Boothe.

“Yes, I’ve seen it and I’m excited to put it next to my other one,’’ said
Snee, who received the Hometown Hero award from the United Way of New York.
“This one is just as special, just got a little more color in it, that’s
all.’’

Coughlin will be pleased to see that the wording “New York Giants 2011 World
Champions’’ surrounds the entire ring.

The total carat weight is 1.36 in diamonds and 1.11 in sapphires. The top of
the ring features the four Lombardi Trophies the Giants have won in their
franchise history and also the famous “NY” team logo. On one side of the ring is
the player’s name and uniform number, and on the other side is the word
“Giants’’ along with the 21-17 score of Super Bowl XLVI, the Giants’ second
defeat of the Patriots in four years.

The ring was designed with input from co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch,
general manager Jerry Reese, Coughlin and team captains Eli Manning, Justin Tuck
and Zak DeOssie as well as representatives from Tiffany’s.

“I haven’t asked Eli, and I think he was one of the ones who got it put
together,’’ wide receiver Hakeem Nicks said. “I didn’t even ask him. I wanted to
be surprised. It’s going to mean a lot. It’s something I’ll always cherish and
keep. I’ll be able to tell my kids’ kids about it.’’

Coughlin is hoping some of the players who were part of the championship team
who are no longer on the roster will find their way to the ring ceremony.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Aaron Ross came back,’’ Coughlin said. “Be nice
to see Aaron. I hope Kareem [McKenzie] does, absolutely. Who knows? [Brandon]
Jacobs might show.’’

This year’s ring is smaller in terms of carats in diamond than the 2007
version, which former Giants defensive end Michael Strahan described as a
“10-table stunner’’ because it could be seen from 10 tables away. That ring
featured 1.5 carats in diamonds. Four years ago, the Giants’ ring was valued at
$25,000, though the team said the rings cost about $5,500 apiece."

FORMER GIANTS' PLAYER BAVARO TALKS ABOUT CONCUSSIONS

"Mark Bavaro was considered to be one of the NFL’s toughest players during his
career. But after playing through an era when concussions were not nearly as
scrutinized or paid attention to, Bavaro thinks today’s players are safer.

“To me, a concussion was when you’re knocked down on the field and we have to
wait for you to wake up,” Bavaro said at the Pinstripe Bowl Charity Golf
Tournament at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, N.J. “In those days,
when guys did get those, as soon as you woke up and could count the fingers in
front of you, you were back in the action. That doesn’t happen
today."

Bavaro, who said he was never diagnosed with a concussion during his career,
thinks concussions and head injuries are taken much more seriously in today’s
NFL. He recounted a story from one of the most famous victories in Giants
history — their 15-13 win over the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game following
the 1990 season — to prove it.

“I don’t want to talk out of school, but Matt Bahr, when he kicked the
winning field goal against San Francisco in the championship game, I don’t think
he knew where he was,” Bavaro said. “He had tackled somebody on a kickoff return
earlier in the game and he was kind of out of it. I think [long snapper] Steve
DeOssie had to kind of actually guide him out on the field and line him up.

“That was regular stuff back then. Matt was a great guy, tough guy, and we
certainly appreciated him coming out there and doing that for us, but I don’t
think that stuff happens today.

“If there’s the slightest indication there’s a problem, guys don’t go back
in. ... They take their helmets away from them.”

But as player safety becomes a bigger issue, Bavaro said he thinks there are
limits on what can be done to make the game safer.

“I don’t know how you can make it less physical,” Bavaro said. “It’s
football. I think you’d have to do away with the sport, but I don’t think that’s
going to happen. I certainly don’t want that to happen.

“My son’s a football player, and he’s a linebacker and a big hitter and I
don’t have a problem with that. That’s what he wants to do, and all these guys
playing in the NFL, that’s their dream come true.”
ROSTER LIMIT FORCES GIANTS TO CUT CHAD JONES

"Despite some remarkable progress following a horrific car accident that
nearly cost him his life and then the use of his left leg, safety Chad Jones is
not close to being able to compete at an NFL level. The Giants had to
acknowledge that reality yesterday when they waived him as injured after he
failed his physical.

Jones, a 2010 third-round draft pick, was expected to develop into a sturdy
and athletic safety coming out of LSU, but his career was derailed after he was
behind the wheel in a one-car crash in New Orleans two months after he was
selected. He reported last month to the Giants’ offseason conditioning program
to continue his rehabilitation, but was not cleared to participate in football
activities.

“We consider Chad to be part of the Giants family, and we’ll continue to work
with him in his rehab,” general manager Jerry Reese said. “As we’ve said since
his accident, we’re thankful he is alive and able to lead a normal life.”

Jones spent two seasons on the reserve/non-football injury list with the
Giants. This year, offseason rosters are expanded to 90 players but it is a hard
count, with no room to stash anyone on any sort of reserve list. Jones suffered
multiple fractures and nerve damage to his lower left leg in the June 25, 2010
accident and nearly died because of a loss of blood. He also was in danger of
having his left leg amputated. After more than 20 surgeries, his left leg is
held together with a metal rod and multiple screws.

“Chad had a severe injury to his left leg, involving a complex tibial
fracture with associated injury to muscle, nerves, and vascular structures,”
said Dr. Scott Rodeo, a Giants associate team physician. “This type of injury is
often limb-threatening, and can sometimes require amputation. He has made a
remarkable recovery to date, with successful salvage of the leg.

“However, at this time he has residual sensory loss, muscle weakness, and
tenuous soft tissue coverage in the involved lower leg. The resultant functional
impairment precludes his ability to perform physically at the level required for
professional football.”

Giants players said they were inspired to see Jones running on the field last
month. His agent, Rocky Arceneaux, said the Giants waiving Jones is “a minor
setback’’ and predicted his client will one day play for the Giants.

“Their genuine support and caring has far exceeded their obligations and he
and his family will be eternally grateful,’’ Arceneaux said of the Giants. “Chad
is experiencing a minor setback and we expect a full recovery within a few
months. He thanks everyone for their continued support and prayers. He will see
his teammates on the field soon.”

* The Giants reached the 90-player limit by signing three undrafted free
agents: Safety Will Hill (Florida), wide receiver Brandon Collins (Southeast
Louisiana) and linebacker Jake Muasau (Georgia State). All three attended last
weekend’s rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis.

Hill has local ties, as he’s a native of East Orange, N.J., who starred at
St. Peter’s Prep. But he has had off-field problems: He served a two-game
suspension at Florida and while in Gainesville was arrested for driving with a
suspended license.

Hill has said he believes he was not drafted after leaving Florida one year
early because word of his marijuana use in college became common
knowledge.
http://www.nypost.com/sports/giants

THE BERGEN RECORD

http://www.northjersey.com/sports/pro_sports/football/

WALL STREET JOURNAL

ZILCH

http://online.wsj.com/public/page/news-sports-nfl.html

THE NEW YORK TIMES

http://www.nytimes.com/pages/sports/football/index.html

GIANTS 101

We at Giants 101
certainly have, and thanks to former wide receiver Stephen Baker, we had the
opportunity to don the 1990 version. But what about their Super
Bowl XLVI ring that was officially revealed on Wednesday morning? Well, the
team has developed an app that allows you to experience the thrill of
wearing it without physically wearing it.

The application, called "Goldrun", can be purchased through most mobile app
stores and allows user to pose wearing the virtual Super
Bowl XLVI ring, as well as holding the Lombardi Trophy.

“We’re really trying each day and each week to figure out how to use social
media as it grows and evolves to let us communicate and touch fans in a more
meaningful way than they ever have before,” Giants CMO Mike Stevens told Mashable in an interview.

Best part? The app is free! So download the app and then upload your
photos on Facebook and Twitter for all to see. There's a chance the Giants may
even retweet you.

Enjoy!"

GIANTS' JUSTIN TUCK DOESN'T BELIEVE OSI UMENYIORA SITUATION WILL BE A DISTRACTION

"While appearing at a private screening for the upcoming motion picture

Umenyiora. And while Tuck acknowledges that Umenyiora showing up for
mini-camp and Organized Team Activities (OTA's) is unlikely, he doesn't feel the
ongoing contract dispute will be a distraction to the team.

“It ain’t that we don’t care,” Tuck said. “We just understand it’s a part of
the game. And why make it bigger than what it is? You can add fuel to a fire and
make it huge. Right now it’s just smoke. You don’t even see the flames yet. So
we’d like to keep it that way.”

There had been some flames between Umenyiora and General Manager Jerry Reese
shortly after the 2012 NFL Draft when the Chief accused Reese of making him look
like a "greedy pig", but they've since been smoldered and all is
currently quiet. Which is not to say Osi has been quiet -because his Twitter
account is lively and hilarious- just that he hasn't mentioned his
contract publicly since then, as promised."

released. At the time, many players, including defensive end Justin Tuck,
denied any knowledge of that being the ring, claiming there were several
different design left to choose from. An employee of Tiffany's later informed
Giants 101 that the released photo was, in fact, the official ring, and on
Tuesday is was confirmed when punter Steve Weatherford tweeted a photo of the
release that was sent to players.

"We took in a lot of opinions. We all came to a decision to make this ring
our ring, because everyone loved it. When Tiffany brought it in the last day,
there was silence because everyone was thinking, ‘Wow.' It really captured
everything we wanted to capture in the ring. Coach Coughlin was adamant about
having ‘World Champions' on it. Plus they did a great job designing the ring to
fit around our fingers and really look good on your hand - not just having a
big, ostentatious ring on your hand. They worked on the balance of the ring when
it's on your hand. I think Tiffany did a great job."

By the way, you can't go to the ring ceremony Wednesday. The Giants are,
however, offering you a chance to try on a virtual Super Bowl
ring.

It's Hump Day, and I have already spoiled
things by telling you in my headline that there are just 16 weeks to go until
the start of the NFL regular season. I know that time flies, but I feel like I'm
writing this Hump Day notebook every other day. I guess that's good, because the
off-season is cruising along briskly. But yeah, less than four months to go,
fellas! Meanwhile, let's see what's going on with the Giants this
morning...." Read more...

http://www.bigblueview.com/section/news
INSIDE FOOTBALL

A NICE "RING" TO CAP A CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON

"

The Giants will receive their Super Bowl championship rings this evening in a
private ceremony at Tiffany’s in New York City. And the design of the ring,
which was unveiled today, features all the little special things that truly make
it a ring worthy of a Big Blue champion.

The design of the 14K white gold ring consisted of input from players,
coaches and the front office. It features 1.36 carats in diamonds making up the
bezel (face) of the ring.

The base stones consist of four large diamonds that represent the franchise’s
four Lombardi trophies. There are also several smaller diamonds that surround
the four bigger ones in the trophies.

“We wanted it to represent the four trophies and have that feeling that you
made the best ring that you could have made,” said defensive end Justin
Tuck, one of the players who provided input into the ring. “I think we
captured that.”

The pavé features several smaller diamonds that surround the Lombardi
trophies and make up the team’s “NY” logo set against a blue jeweler’s enamel
backdrop. The bezel also includes a ring of smaller sapphires totaling 1.11
carats in weight placed just above the bezel spellout, “New York Giants 2011
World Champions.”

“The blue makes it a little different,” said quarterback Eli
Manning. “We wanted some blue – the Giants are Big Blue. We definitely
wanted to get a little blue to spark it up a little bit.”

“I think all of us wanted to have some blue in the ring, from the ownership
down,” added Tuck. “We wanted to make the ring different from the ring we had
earlier. The ’08 ring had no color in it – it was just white diamonds. We wanted
those to sparkle a little bit more and stand out a little bit more. We talked to
guys on the team and the consensus was a lot of guys wanted to see more color in
the ring.”

On shank is the old “Giants” logo, the one worn on the helmets of the
franchise’s 1986 and 1990 Super Bowl teams, placed above the Lombardi trophy,
and the final score of Super Bowl XLVI, 21-17, followed by the NFL shield.

The other shank features the recipient’s last name, the team’s circular logo
surrounding the player’s jersey number, and “EST 1925,” the year the franchise
was founded.

The palm side of the ring features is a list of the four years that the club
won the Super Bowl: 1986, 1990, 2007, and 2011.

Etched inside of the ring are the slogans “Finish” and “All in,” the team’s
two battle cries from last season.

“We definitely wanted ‘Finish,’ we definitely wanted ‘All In,’” Tuck said.
“Those were two things we prided ourselves on, not only during the season, but
especially through the playoff run. And we won games that way. So we definitely
wanted those in there.”

“We took in a lot of opinions. We all came to a decision to make this ring
our ring, because everyone loved it,” said Tuck. “When Tiffany brought it in the
last day, there was silence because everyone was thinking, ‘Wow.’ It really
captured everything we wanted to capture in the ring. Coach Coughlin was adamant
about having ‘World Champions’ on it. Plus they did a great job designing the
ring to fit around our fingers and really look good on your hand – not just
having a big, ostentatious ring on your hand. They worked on the balance of the
ring when it’s on your hand. I think Tiffany did a great job.”

been scrutinized and sometimes been scoffed at, but a man who knows better than
most says Tebow’s mechanics are good.

Jets quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh listed good mechanics as one of
several attributes that he has liked seeing in his time working with Tebow.

“I think he can be very good,” Cavanaugh told
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “I was pleasantly surprised
when I saw him over an extended period of time . . . not just watching him play
on film. I think he’s certainly got the arm strength. He has good mechanics.
They’re getting better every day.”

Although the Jets have always maintained that they plan to use Tebow in the
wildcat and on special teams and leave the base offense to Mark Sanchez, Cavanaugh says most of Tebow’s
work so far has been on the basics of pocket passing.

“I think with Tim, he’s more focused right now in the offseason on just
working on the fundamentals of trying to be rhythmic in the pocket,” Cavanaugh
said. “So [he] can be using the mechanics that [he] wants to be using. We
started to toy a little bit with some of the other things that will happen to
you . . . And he’s shown great progress. I’m real pleased with him.”

With a career completion rate of 47.3 percent, Tebow has a lot of work to do
as a passer. But Cavanaugh sounds convinced that Tebow is heading in the right
direction."

NFL, NFLPA ANNOUNCE LARGEST YOUTH HELMET REPLACEMENT PROGRAM EVER

"On Tuesday the NFL and NFLPA announced a pretty fantastic new initiative: a
Helmet Replacement Program to benefit youth football safety.

Yes, it's
exactly what you'd expect: the league and players union, along with USA
Football, the CDC, the NCAA and a
number of different organizations are going into "underserved communities"
and replacing football helmets that are 10 years or older.

The
organizations involved will be doing this at no cost to the leagues who will
receive the new helmets.

“We are pleased to be part of this initiative,
which will give children in underserved communities access to new helmets, and
to reach coaches and parents with educational information to help protect young
athletes from head injuries," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said. "This program
is part of our focus on player safety at all levels of the game. We are proud to
join with these well-respected organizations to make the Helmet Replacement
Program a reality.”

The NFL, NFLPA, NCAA, along with the National
Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE), have committed
a combined total of approximately $1 million to the program in its first year.
And beginning in July, the HRP plans to distribute almost 13,000 new helmets in
"low-income communities" during 2012.

As indicated in the release, new
helmets don't mean "unlimited safety" for young football players. But new
helmets to mean safer helmets and it also means an opportunity to reach
out to young football players and educate them on the importance of long-term
health and player safety in football -- any leagues that receive the new helmets
will be required "to have their coaches complete USA Football's Level 1 coaching

As I was checking out my first time there, an employee yelled out to the cashier that I get a discount because I'm a Giants fan. Another employee (guess who) yells out that I should be charged double or not be allowed to even buy anything. I asked the first employee "Cowboys or Patriots fan?"...and of course we all know which one he was. Patriots fans tend not to draw attention to themselves other than the person to whom they are giving/making excuses to. While Cowboys fans seem to enjoy being in the spotlight and are seemingly completetly oblivious to how dumb they look.

So I left......after a very BRIEF moment at home, I found myself returning to Sears Hardware. While I was walking in, my friend the Cowboy fan was outside the front doors. When I walked past him he loudly exclaims "Cowboys Baby!!!"......So I, never being one that avoids poking the bear, said "Really? You are seriously going to start smack talking in the offseason after the Giants just won a Super Bowl? REALLY?? When was the last time the Cowboys won a playoff game? Giants are the SB champs, you got nothing!!"

I think I hate Cowboys fans more than any other. Eagles fans are smart enough to be silent when they have a down year. Cowboys fans will talk *** after going 1-15.

Why haven't we resigned Grant?

Ever since he became a Giant he's been a vocal leader, consistent and always did his job.. especially in the playoff run.
