For only $100 you can get an HD TV tuner. Plug it into your USB port and voila!!!

The laptop came with built in TV tuner option for $100, but since I already have one, I didn't get it.

So if you have a pretty new laptop, then just get the external TV tuner, and plug your cable into it, you don't need your cable box...
