Projecting the Giants’ 2013 Compensatory Picks
There is a website that I was looking at for our 2013 Compensatory picks and if this is what are picks will go by.. then it sucks for us this year for good compensatory picks..

From contributor Jimmy Kempski of Blogging the BEeast:
In the 2012 draft, the Giants were awarded a 4th round compensatory pick. That pick would become Brandon Mosley. The way that compensatory picks are awarded is a complicated (and secret) process, but the basics of it are as follows:
    1. Players that are cut or not tendered as RFAs and ERFAs are not counted.
    2. Players earning minimum salaries do not count.
    3. Each player signed cancels out one player lost.
    4. The round of the pick awarded is primarily determined by the annual value of the contract signed. Signed players cancel out lost players with equal contracts, then lower contracts, before canceling out higher contracts.
With free agency movement pretty much complete, and the remaining unemployed players unlikely to get anything higher than the veteran minimums (which, as noted above, don’t qualify for comp picks), let’s take an early look at players the Giants signed/lost, and whether or not they’re likely to receive any compensatory picks in 2013.
Lost for minimum (does not qualify for compensatory pick): Jonathan Goff, Devin Thomas
Signed for minimum (does not qualify for compensatory pick): Stevie Brown, Antwaun Molden, Shaun Rogers, Chris Horton, Dante Hughes
Lost: Brandon Jacobs (1 year, $1.575 million), Mario Manningham (2 years, $7.5 million), Aaron Ross (3 years, $9.75 million), Dave Tollefson (2 years, $2.4 million)
Signed: Martellus Bennett (1 year, $2.5 million)
Compensatory pick projection: 3 picks. Bennett will cancel out either Ross or Jacobs. If he cancels out Jacobs (the more likely scenario), the Giants with get two 6th round picks for losing Manningham and Ross, and a 7 for losing Tollefson. However, if Bennett cancels out Ross, the Giants will only get one 6th round pick (Manningham), and two 7′s (Jacobs and Tollefson).

    Comp picks can't be traded.

Then we have no choice but to scout lower echelon players that we think will be available.
