Seems like the general consensus is that we can't afford to keep both

When healthy Nicks is more important. Problem is he seems to be injured a lot. Cruz seems to be more durable and has had two nice seasons. Do you over pay a slot guy though? Maybe the Giants think that a healthy Nicks, Randle, and JJ will be fine.

They also did mention how it didn't work out when they tried to play Cruz on the outside more. And how because of that they had to force an unready RR into service. This I guess was tried when they found no adequate replacement for MM

Not with Eli making $20mil a year. I think Cruz is the way to go over Nicks by the way. Nicks is ALWAYS hurt. Cruz has been legit through 2 years. Also, Randle can fill Nicks spot easier then Cruz'

The league has the book on Cruz now.....jam him at the line and hit him hard and he disappears......I'd take Nicks

id love to see him do that. However that is one subject beat to death in another thread. Most feel Eli wouldn't do nor should he feel guilty about it. He signed it fair and square and owes the team nothing. I on the other hand feel if he wants to become know with immortals like Bradshaw and Montana when he is all done someday he needs to re do his deal to get them both signed. Sure JR is confident he can pull another guy from the draft or whatever, but lets face it Eli's window is closing. Does he really have 2/3 years to wait for a rookie to come into his own? I don't think so. It's now or never. He will be sitting back a rich man weather he makes 20 or 10 million a year. The question is will he be sitting there with just 2 SB wins or with maybe say 4

IMO, I'm all for just tendering Cruz and let 2013 play out to see which we should build our future around.

Both offer their own pros and cons, but Nicks has the edge because he can consistently beat double coverage on the outside, but then again.. he's seriously injury prone and maybe Rueben Randle can be developed into a legit #1 receiver, while Cruz does his thing in the slot.
