Coughlin "Absolutely" Believes Deal Will Get Done With Victor Cruz
    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/fo...icle-1.1280198

Excerpt: ""Absolutely I think it'll get done," Coughlin said before signing copies of his new book, Earn the Right to Win, at a Barnes & Noble in Manhattan on Tuesday.

"These things take time, as much as we'd all like them to happen now. It's a process."

That process could end up taking up to a year because Cruz isn't scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent until March, 2014. On March 12 he'll become a restricted free agent and the Giants, according to a source, are likely to give him a "first-round tender" worth $2.879 million. That would essentially take the 26-year-old off the open market for now since the Giants could then match any offer he receives and would be entitled to a first-round pick in compensation from the team that signs him if they don't." With the Bowe and Hartline signing, if the Giants don't tender him they're going to have to pay him a grip. I'd say right now tendering him is their only option at this point if they have other priorities they'd like to shore up as well.

It's slang for load....as in they'll have to shell out a grip of money.

It's not like he's going to say something negative...

    Exactly

It's not like he's going to sign books and say "nah, he's definitely not coming back."

It is his place to say, though - he was asked for his opinion. Not giving one would do more harm than good.

Easier to say something positive and move on - moreso when you're promoting something.

i know it doesnt happen often but what if we tender him and another team actually does sign him. I guess a team that has cap space and really needs a WR could trade a first round pick for a proven 26 year old WR.
