I don't think it would be sound advice to make him sign and play under the Tender to become a UFA next offseason and go for a bigger contract. A lot can happen in a long NFL season. He could, A. Have a great season and cash it big time in 2014 and laugh all the way to the bank. He could B. have a sub par season and wind up getting offers worth a lot less then what the Giants offer was. Or he could C. Have a bad injury and totally lose out and wind up just trying to catch on somewhere and have to play for Vet Min till he proves he can still play.
I think the beat advice after 4/19 from Tom condon would be to accept the Giants offer or a variation of it. That would be the safest route for his financial future
Apparently the world isn't beating down Victor's door quite the way he thought it would. The Giants now have a lot of time to deal with him. He really doesn't have much negotiating room anymore either, with Welker and Amendola both signing for roughly $6 mil/year, that's pretty much Victor's number at this point. He might get a little more because he plays nearly every down; but not much. It's in his and the Giants best interest to get a deal done some time this off season, but, there's no presure as far as the Giants are concerned. If this carries on into the regular season, Victor has a lot more to lose that the Giants. A bad season could really hurt his value, as could an injury of any major severity. If the Giants aren't hearing what they want by draft day, they could conceivably turn up the heat a little more. As it is I think Cruz is going to see Randle and Murphy cut into his playing time some. Murphy's the home run ball kind of guy in the lines of Wallace that can stretch the field. Randle has good outside size that Cruz lacks. They're both probably going to get their share of time.
Plus, they are now working with an agent who is respected and works well with Jerry Reese. He has the right to negotiate the best deal he can and there is no rush to do that right now. He has been talking to Eli and he also talked with TC.
