Sorry dude, but I've never accepted that argument from opposing fans, and I'm not going to accept it from a Giants fan!
That argument is the "first cousin" of the phrase
"the best team lost!"

I dunno... that logic can certainly be annoying, but justifiable in the NFL.

NBA, NHL, MLB-- hard to argue since teams have to win entire series in order to advance, but in the NFL, sometimes a horrible team can have a great day and a really good team can have a bad one.

At any rate, I think he was implying that there is, in fact, a moral victory to hanging around with the best. No one likes to hear that because it seems so empty, but when comparing and trying to predict how you'll do and the caliber of your team it's a valid source.
