Injuries aside: there's a very long list of players who've languished in the "Black Hole" of Oakland and flourished elsewhere. Players who are in particular need of structure seem particularly...
Love the Diesel tape, but this kid and Vontaze aren't really in the same boat, in terms of scouting. Vontaze was a 1st round prospect before he sabotaged himself out of the entire draft, between his...
LOVE IT!
I think you raise a valid point. I'd say, though, one should consider the level of talent in last year's draft (remarkably high) than this year's (remarkably low). Think if Glenn - or Wilson, for...
I don't think the fact we went OL in the 1st is why some folks are upset. I think some people are upset because of WHO we took in the 1st. Not saying we should've sold the farm for Lane Johnson or...
See?
That's fair enough. Truck's statement was pretty declarative, though, and not strictly true.
I'm optimistic about Hosley & feel great about Prince, but the rest of the CB roster is pretty dicey.
Rhodes woulda been nice...
Lavonte David last year comes to mind.
Thanks, Fletch!
Based on the limited tape I've seen, he looks like the most talented corner in this draft. I don't know enough about the injury to have any feelings about it, save that if the front office OK'd it,...
there are a few legitimate concerns about fluker's game, but run blocking is definitely NOT one of them.
Fair point with Greene, but have you read up on Montogmery? He might turn himself around & be a great player, but I strongly doubt he ever winds up on a Coughlin-coached team...
I think Short looks very good in the OSU tape, though the announcer does mention that he's often facing a backup RT. Still, big John Jenkins is my DT in this draft (who isn't named Star...).
Aren't they already selling Matthieu Bengals jerseys?
Wasn't that Lane Johnson's first year playing OT, though?
I would argue that JR's strategy in free agency - particularly this year - is to minimize team need when drafting, and focus on talent & positional value.
Right, but he's still getting mocked well below what his tape & talent suggest. For example, I think if he slips to 11 / 12, it's the steal of the draft.
Slip: re-watched the Lousville video and take back my statement, to some extent. While I don't think he's a physical tackler, he does take on that pulling tackle with heart.
I watched the Louisville and Rutgers videos on YouTube, which is what I'm basing this on. Are these not a good sample of his play? (Honest question - I don't follow UConn games.)
Considering he's a top 3 talent that could very possibly slip past #10 on account of his medical concerns, at what point do you think it'd be worth trading up to get him?
Heaven help the team that drafts Wreh-Wilson. Soft as soft gets, and not even that great in coverage. To me, I think Rhodes and Milliner are the only corners worth considering in the first.
True that Fluker's got some heavy feet (which have apparently improved in the draft process?), but I disagree he moves worse than Watson. While Watson may be faster, but he's got some wacky footwork...
Very true, and he was also being littered with "the best OG prospect in a decade / arguably the top player in the draft" type praise, as well. Seriously, interior linemen slip.
