EXPECT MORE DRAFT WHEELING AND DEALING

EXPECT MORE DRAFT WHEELING AND DEALING

    "Though
a recent poll of GMs finds Robert Griffin III a clear second choice to Andrew
Luck, RG3 rates high on many draft boards. Presuming [Luck] goes first, and
Griffin creates a market for himself, the St. Louis Rams will be able to auction
the second pick for a sizeable ransom. The club ascending into St. Louis' No. 2
slot will assume the incumbent franchise-shaking impact of selecting a
quarterback that high, and surrender significant draft capital in the process.
But for the first time in a long time, such a move won't be accompanied with a
financial swing-for-the-fences. And because of that, there may be more deals
within the top five picks beyond just that obvious one. Maybe a few
    more."

The Rams think they holding the 2nd pick with RG3 for ransom, knowing full well everyone knows they're financially locked with Bradford.

However, they can't afford to move too far down if they plan to get Blackmon.

Nobody thinks STL will actually draft RGIII.

    Correct.
If Rams give up 2nd pick-RG3, Vikings get first dibs on Blackmon.
If not, Vikings get first dibbs on RG3 (Ponder is salary-capped, they can easily afford both QBs).

Why would the Vikings draft a QB two years in a row, with the same regime? Especially since Ponder wasn't Gabbert-bad.

Vikingns still ended up going 3-13 with Ponder coming in for McNabb during the season. They will most like go after Blackmon if the Rams don't.

Rookie QBs are salary-capped now. It's just not financially hard to imagine teams keeping two salary-capped first-round QBs with one in the backup position for when the starting QB goes down, especially if the QB likes to run.

Not too much disrespect to David Carr, but if Eli went down for the Giants, we'd end up like the 2011 Colts.

Like I said, LT is the way to go for them, and Kalil is as can't miss as Luck.

I can agree with that, Kalil is the best OL in the draft. Depends on what the Vikings really want. All I know is, they're probably praying Adrian Peterson can recover fully and return to normal after that knee injury late in the season.
