Re: It's started already

Are you kidding, while confetti was falling they were picking favorites to win next year's Super Bowl, and of course this year's champs were not even in the conversation.

So, you're upset/surprised that the DALLAS arm of ESPN has an article about the OWNER of the Cowboys saying they have the talent to compete for a SB?

The author, Todd Archer, was actually poking holes in a lot of Jones' comments, too, such as Jones means "making the playoffs" is "competing for a SB," and that the Girls are only 14-18 over the past two seasons. He even countered Jones' claim that he takes the games in '10 before Romo broke his collarbone and Garrett's first full season as HC by pointing out that using that criteria the Girls are 9-13.

At this point I actually wonder if you read the article or just saw the title/link and jumped to whining about it.
Well let's see, Dallas cannot seem to be able to beat either the Giants or especially the Eagles, so it would seem that they are not really that close. 20 MM will buy you something, but if history is an example it is not the way to win. What Jerry says about Romo does make sense, but you do not win when you score 30 and the other team scores 35 and that problem will not be a quick fix. It also seems that a lot is being put on Demarco Murray to carry the running load and the jury is out on his ability to not get hurt. Not getting hurt seems to be a problem with OU draft choices.

Jerry is right about one thing, anyone and everyone has a chance.
+1. Dallas's talent is completely overrated. I think they're just average -- just like their record over the past few years.

Romo's the least of their problems. Their WR's aren't as good as advertised and their D is horrible. Even if they did make the playoffs this past year, they would have been knocked out by the 2nd round.

What's new every year its the same song... Dallas is the most talented team in blah blah blah... Honestly I don't see it they've got a good quarterback that can't seem to get out of his own head. A great player on defense in Demarcus Ware and a bunch of entitled egoists that have accomplished nothing!!!! Go Dallas...

    What Drez said.

No one thinks the Cowboys have the talent to compete in the superbowl except for Jones and that's actually the biggest problem we have to overceome-- Jerry Jones overconfidence and stupidity.

He's either too proud or too blind to know when players need to be let go in favor of someone who will bring enthusiasm to the table.

Case and point: we'll see how they handle Anthont Spencer. He's a free agent this year and should be let go. All we hear about is how great he is in practice and we'll see flashes of greatness for 1/4 of the season, but then he falls off the face of the earth. Jones will surely give him a big pay day because of his 'potential' (he's 28, Jerry) and we'll be stuck with him for another 3 to 4 years.

Yup. Jones, much like Davis was in Oak, is your biggest enemy in many regards. I have trouble getting a good read on the son to see if he'd be a good influence on the old man or just more of the same.

I would keep Spencer if the price is right, but you're probably right in that Jerrah will probably way overpay him (yet we have people here *****ing that Canty is making $6m this season).

These are the same people (esp. at nfl network) that choose Romo as one of the top 50 players of 2010 (even though he was 0-4 before the GIANTS knocked him out for the season) and totally ignore Eli

I suggest that you, and everyone that commented in this thread, actually READ the article. There is no anti-Giants/pro-Dallas "they," just Jerry Jones. The writer of the article, who works for ESPN DALLAS (much like how Ohm Youngmisuk works for ESPN NY) actually did his best to discredit everything positive that Jerrah said.

To elaborate, here's another take on Jerry' statement which reinforce the position of the first article posted.
