GIANTS REPORTEDLY INTERESTED IN FALCONS' DE JOHN ABRAHAM

"There's a saying: "You can never have too many pass rushers". Those were the
words uttered by former <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with New York Giants" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york-giants/" rel="tag nofollow">New York
Giants</a> general manager Ernie Accorsi and are now being carried out by
current general manager Jerry Reese.

For a team who just won Super Bowl XLVI on the back of it's pass rush that
featured <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Justin Tuck" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/justin-tuck/" rel="tag nofollow">Justin
Tuck</a>, OsiUmenyiora, Jason Pierre- Paul, and Mathias Kiwanuka, the Giants
are reportedly interested in adding defensive end <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with John Abraham" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/john-abraham/" rel="tag nofollow">John
Abraham</a> in free agency.</p>


The combine is said to be the unofficial start of free agency and time will
only tell whether these rumors are true, but Abraham is reportedly set to hit
the market as the Falcons have little interest in bringing back the pass rushing
specialist.</p>


Abraham would be a rotational player for the Giants in nickel situations and
with the future of <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Osi Umenyiora" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/osi-umenyiora/" rel="tag nofollow">Osi
Umenyiora</a>up in the air, it is always good to have insurance."

Reese's priority is the team. We don't even know if this is good information but if it is, he would be used in rotation with Tuck, JPP, and Kiwanuka. He won't be asked to play every down.

Of course his priority is the team. I understand he loves pass rushers and rightfully so, but there are so many other holes on this team right now the last think on his mind should be another pass rusher, especially with Osi saying he would take less money to stay. I hope this report isn't true.

I am not a big fan of Abraham. He has the reputation ofa guy wit alot of talent but doesn't always show up. I don't see how the Giants could afford him with the current Cap situation.

I think you might want to just take a breath and let Reese do what he has proven he does very well. One of the reason we got into and through the playoffs was our pass rush. It could be Reese knows Osi won't be here next season and he's looking at a Kawika Mitchell type of resolve.

The fact that he may be looking for a DE/pass rusher doesn't mean he also isn't looking at the OLine.
