NY GIANTS' NEWS AND NOTES: AWFULLY QUIET EDITION

NY GIANTS' NEWS AND NOTES: AWFULLY QUIET EDITION

"Good morning fellow Giants fans, and welcome to Hump Day in Offseason Week 4.
With the announcement Tuesday that the Giants will open the season on Wednesday,
September 5, that's one day earlier than originally planned, and actually eight
days earlier than I had thought they were kicking off--or 189 days from now, or
27 weeks. Hey, that doesn't sound so bad, does it? Meanwhile, not much is going
on in Big Blue cyberspace. Let's have a look....

    Giants'
Manningham puts odds of staying in NY at '50-50' - NFL - CBSSports.com News,
    Rumors, Scores, Stats, Fantasy Advice

    Mario
    Manningham
disputed a Youngstown (Ohio) Vindicator report in which he said
there was a "75 percent" chance he was leaving the New York Giants via
free agency. It's more like "50-50," Manningham said in an interview with WFAN
radio, though his preference is to stay with the Super Bowl Champions. He also
said disputed a CBSSports.com report of him going to Tampa Bay.

I think most of us are resigned to the fact that Mario is likely gone. And
it's certainly not the end of the world as far as I'm concerned.
    Meanwhile.....

    Agent
for Giants' Domenik Hixon 'hoping to finalize a deal very soon' |
    NJ.com

With Mario Manningham anywhere from 50 to 75 percent likely
to leave the Giants (more on that in a bit), word is Domenik Hixon
might be close to 100 percent to rejoin the team. Eric Metz, the agent for the
six-year veteran wide receiver wrote in an email Monday night he's "hoping to
finalize a contract very soon" to return Hixon to the team for whom he's played
only two games in the past two seasons combined.

    New
York Jets Free Agency 2012: Plaxico Burress Has Eyes For Philadelphia Eagles -
    SB Nation New York

    Before wide receiver Plaxico
    Burress
signed with the New York Jets prior
to the 2011 season the Philadelphia
    Eagles
were considered among the likely landing spots for the former New
    York Giants star wide receiver.

Does this guy have a small problem with the Giants?

    Dancing
with the Stars' Maria Menounos: Her Sexy Bikini Stunt Revisited! -
    UsMagazine.com

Looks like Maria Menounos is more than ready to
rock the skimpiest costumes available in the Dancing with the Stars closet! Back
in early February, the 33-year-old Extra co-host showed off her flawless form in
a skimpy red, white and blue Giants bikini in New York City's Times Square --
all because she lost a Super Bowl XLVI bet to colleague AJ Calloway, 37, after
    wagering that the New England
    Patriots
would win. (The New York Giants beat Tom Brady's team
    in a 21-17 victory).

Um, yeah. It sure can be fun finding offseason material.

    Agent
says New York Jets LB Bart Scott was 'extremely frustrated' - ESPN New
    York

(Agent Harold) Lewis said a potential trade was discussed,
but he claimed he didn't request a trade and nor has he received permission to
seek one. But that could be a matter of semantics at this point. Scott's
"ultimate goal" is to stay with the Jets, according to Lewis, who added: "If we
can't fix what's broken, there will be other opportunities." Scott, 32, would go
to the linebacker-needy New York Giants "in a heartbeat," Lewis said.

    Here is another
    ESPN.com take on Scott
possibly being traded to the Giants.

    Inside
the NFL Draft: Giants team needs - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

    The Super
Bowl Champion Giants and head coach Tom Coughlin head into the offseason with
some needs at the offensive tackle position and on the interior of the defensive
line. With some mid-round needs at LB and also at the RB position, let’s take a
look at which prospects fit in New York.

    Lin
ties Tiger for New York tabloid record: Yahoo! News - CNA ENGLISH
    NEWS

The rising sensation was featured on the back cover of
Newsday Monday for the 20th consecutive day, tying the record Woods set in 2009
when his sex scandal appeared on the front page of the New York Post for the
same number of days in a row. "Lin would've already broken Tiger's tabloid
record had it not been for the New York Giants Super Bowl parade on Feb. 7, the
day after Lin's first Newsday cover," the report said."

Now I'm starting to think Goodell only changed the time of the opening game so we'd have SOMETHING newsworthy today.
