GIANTS MIGHT DECIDE TO TRADE OSI UMENYIORA
"According to ESPN’s John Clayton, even though the New York Giants are talking
about extending Osi Umenyiora’s contract, it’s still not out of the question
that he could end up being traded. I believe the Giants will try to work out a
way to compensate Umenyiora for his stellar play over the past few seasons, but
he might have to wait a couple of months as the Giants work on getting under the
salary cap for 2012. They’re currently $9 million over the cap and have quite a
few free agents to sign. At the end of teh daay, I don’t see the Giants trading
Umenyiora since he has one year left on his current deal. He also realized that
holding out last season wasn’t the answer, so he might just quietly play out his
contract and then move on.
