    Diehl Restructures contract

    off of twitter: [/b]

"Looks like OL David Diehl restructured his
contract, lowering his base salary from $4.2M to $1.2M. That clears
    another $1.5M in cap space."

I'm loving how everyone is chipping in to get cap space so that we can keep the team together while improving as well. Great start to free agency in my humble opinion.

[/quote]Great! Don't understand the Cap and the guaranteed part. So question is, if his base went from 4.2 to 1.2 wouldn't that be 3m in Cap space instead of 1.5m?
Football has been very, very good to us.
Even though 2013 was a losing season, we can console ourselves with this fact-

    # of Super Bowl victories since 1985:

1-Chicago, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Seattle
2-Washington, Green Bay, Denver, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
    3-San Francisco, Dallas, New England
    4-New York Giants!!!!!

    Let's make it 5 in 2014 !!!

The 3mil shaven gets divided evenly amongst the remaining years. He has two years left. So half applies this year, half applies next.

Okay. Now that makes sense. So in case of Eli going from 10m down to 1m the 9m saved got spread over the remaining yrs..ok so he saved us about 2m in Cap space nut it will add 2m to what it would of been next yr.

So all in all is it because we do so much restructuring that we get in so much Cap trouble every yr by deferring so much salary it hurts us in long run
