Would be smarter to back load that deal a bit when the cap is likely to be higher. I expect them to wait until next season to offer him a new contract.

lol, 17 mil will be his signing bonus...thats highway robbery. if anything, inform him that 2014 we'll have much more cap room, give him a 2 yr 12 mil dollar contract with 8 guaranteed as incentive for him to sign and be patient...

He would be better off waiting after one more great season he will get a big contract here or somewhere. After this news of 7 years 130mill wr contract. He is in great position to cash in.

That would be a steal for us. I see him getting a new deal after he does it again next year.

Lol, too late for that. You see what laurent Robinson just got? 5 yrs 32mil 14guaranteed. Cruz is waaaay better then Robinson, who also had one "good" year (50 catches, 800 yards, 11tds) compared to Cruz' great year (82 catches. 1500 yards, 9 tds) . I see Cruz wanting and getting a 4 or 5 year 40 or 50mil , about 20 guaranteed.

Given the most recent WR signings around the League, Nicks and Cruz would be well advised to wait until they are free agents UNLESS they can get deals like Calvin Johnson and Vincent Jackson via extension.

there are big risks in waiting..just ask steve smith..giants dont have to do anything with cruz...they are not going to give him more money now unless giants can tie him up for a few yrs ..the big wr signings are for free agents..cruz is not a f/a so money will be less

Why would cruz do this? I mean if this is the case maybe we can give Hakeem 4 years 24 mill? Are you seeing the contracts out there- Jackson, Pierre, Megatron? Granted he could get injured - but he had a better year then everyone on that list other then Tron - he aint taking 4 years 17 - cmon.

You need to change the title of this thread to - good deal for GIANTS ONLY.

Everything we do has consequences. Where do I say either Nicks or Cruz should do anything now? I am suggesting they wait for free agency to get the best deal they can.

BTW, Cruz has other irons in the financial fire, he's not scrimping along. He can, and should, wait for his NFL payday.
