Let me tell you something dude, my buddy I've known since elementary school is black. He's an electrical engineer and a conservative. He's not as hardcore as probably me, but he definitely doesn't agree with the other side and he doesn't agree with every single word that comes out of Obama's mouth.

Being asian, I could care less if my president was asian, if he sucked, I'd say he sucked. I just don't like when people stick up for certain groups of people just because they have the same color skin. We should all be rooting for people who can make this country better...

We can't ignore that something is going on. There is no way all these EQ's are normal...or at least normal in the sense of what is normal for this time of year....

2012, the end of times talks about these major EQ's, floods etc etc.... I don't want to get back into the whole 2012 thing but things are kinda lining up aren't they?

what's lost in translation was Dr King's words that regardless of skin color, ethnicity, religion, etc; a man or woman who is bets suited for whatever (job) should be awarded said job.

key word, regardless. He didn't say,so that one day a Black man can get in....we are all one people, just different factory paint jobs.

should we be shocked that yet another highly successful, rich man is caught with his hand in the cookie jar?

    even if it's Tiki.

never mind Jesse James and his skeletons in the closet.....

hello world, men by nature are dogs, it takes a strong man to resist new-new when it's being offered on the side.

    lol on 'new-new'.

Avoid it, or not, you will get in big doo-doo if you are in a position to even be offered.

Which is why I never entered politics even though others urged me to,

I lived in Ocean Twshp, an upper middle class area near the Jersey coast. I noticed that this same construction company, with a nicely Italian name, received all the bids all the time for all the town's work.

So, I says to myself, "If I am to run for Mayor of this town, I will certainly be approached by this company... at least initially so that they can test the waters regarding where I might be coming from if I were to win.

Following will be donations to my campaign, or Not, depending on whether or not they believe I can be bought.

If you can be bought, you are immediately in the whirlpool of lies and corruption and covering your butt so that you can move up in the future without worrying about skeletons in the closet.

If you can't be bought, and miraculously win, you'll be looking over your shoulder, and your family's shoulders, from then on. It takes an incredibly brave man to go that route.

I don't think you can be a politician, at all, without having succumbed to compromise, at a cost.

Out of college went to work for a Fortune 500 Co. up in CT. After 5+ years my boss calls me in and tactfully tells me that they know I am registered Independent, and advises me that I need to register Republican if I ever want to move up in the company. I went andfound a new job within a few months. It was the first time I realized that they wanted to know ifI was going to fall in line and play the game. I wentand found a new job within 2 months... to a small company where I reported directly to the old man Pres. Then I relaized that I was at the mercy of His politics, and regardless, when he retired he was going to turn the reigns over to his nephew.

It's a difficult world to live in and succeed if you are a nice, honest person, and have moral reservations about compromise in life. Always was and always will be. The facts are that, when we vote, regardless of what people 'really' think of their candidate, they'll pull the party lever. And, if they aren't Party oriented, they frequently end upvoting the lesser of two evils.

So, where is OUR power? it's in the freedom to shareour views... like right here... to see where the common person's wind be blowing, and to discuss how we can be agents for effective betterment. I have become convinced that the only way Politicians will take our voice seriously is to vote against every single incumbent... regardless of party or any other considerstion... and show the creeps that we have power, too. That message will certainly be heeded by those that know it is their turn, next, to be voted on.

Remember, "The Silent Majority"? That's exactrly what we were.

The power of the computer allows those people to be heard... finally.

So... Congress is going to vote on a new bill. We all know that 99% of every vote ends up being Dems vs. Reps and that the elected official from our state is going to vote according to his party's wishes. It doesn't matter, truly, whether or not it's something good for most of the people. Well, in this computer age, why can't WE be polled, well in advance and with access to the information needed to make a wise decision, and then... shudder the thought, our elected state official votes the way the majority in his state want... the People's wishes be heard.

I guess there's no Nirvana, or Utopian state, but we got's to keep trying. We're already deep into the whirlpool, but by not fighting for oursleves, we are certainly doomed.

you wrote alot Zim....but IMO, the voice of the people has been relegated to mere whispers and grumblings.

I totally agree that people vote based on Party lines or the lesser of 2 evils;but I also submit that more than average, many people aren't educated about the Candidates or more importantly the Issues.

More often than not I will get into discussions with people who know less than 10% of a given Issue.

ex. They'll know the "name" and a smattering of "surface" facts/fiction then that's it.

you end up looking up at the sky in exasperation.

as for keeping the faith and fighting united, I'm for that but only for what is best for all.

mind you, that statement alone is loaded and can be construed in a variety of different ways...
