every time I think I'm beginning to understand you Americans you do something just before I do.

How you can't want health care for all citizens boggles my mind. To have it get to the level it has is quite shocking.

but I still love ya guys
Any sane person wants healthcare for all citizens.

But it has to be put togther in both a way that will work, can be paid for, and done ethically.

That is not what has occurred here.

This has always been a land of free choice. There is no choice here. If someone chooses not to purchase healthcare insurance, our government is going to penalize those folks.

And what are the insurance companies going to do with their premiums now that they know EVERY American has to buy health insurance or be penalized? The myth is that insurance companies will have to lower their premiums to compete. The reality is that they don't have to do anything but keep the premiums at the same level or raise them.

Fewer bright young people will choose medical school and will opt for a career elswhere. ( It's already been happening for 3 or 4 years )

Physician's Assistant's and Nurse Practioners who now see patients who have minor issues will soon be seeing patients for ailments that are beyond the scope of their expertise. I see the trend already as a healthcare recruiter. Remember, these are people who couldn't get into Medical School to become a doctor.

The quality of healthcare goes down. Wait time goes up. And we all suffer.

This administration is destroying this once great country.
I couldn't agree with you more, BB62. In my 63 years, the worst ever, and at a sickeningly fast pace. But, prior administrations, going back to LBJ, have certainly contributed to a gradual decline. You could argue that it started when JFK picked up the french baggage in Viet Nam.

Little chinks here and there, all adding up. There have been warnings about future funding of Social Secirity for 40 years. But, this health care fiasco, and bailing out our large companies to the tune of billions/trillions, plus the ongoing cost for supporting our efforts in Afghan and Iraq, have all crystallized the dilemma to a point where even the least astute of our citizins recognize big future problems.

For the first time ever, SS is in the red.

So, I'm 63 and figure I'll be OK in my tenure... but I'm concerned about my 2 sons, and my 17 year old grand daughter. She's 17, and 45 years from now, where is this once great country??

It's scary... reality scary... just not suppositions and warning signs anymore. It's reality.

Maybe I should advise her to learn Chinese?
wow Zim...you just got me thinking......scary......its scary that my grand kids are growing up in a completely different country than I did...... all this was brewing for a long time.....a looong time......but when you sit and think about it ......the change sort of slaps you.... like a saying I once heard.... "it came so slow you dont remember when you got so fat..."
I'd love to be 16 again... but, not today. I was 16 in '62, and that was perfect. Although, because we grew up with TV, unlike out parents and every human that came before us,we Baby Boomers were really considered spoiled.

That makes me smile, and laugh. Our parents had no idea what was coming.

If you told me in '62 that in 48 yearswe would have anastronomical and growing debt to China , you'd be daft, and ready for the White Coats

Fast Forward 48 years and the effects on our lives with all the advances in Technology, Medicine, etc. Again, back in the day, you didn't have products that became obsolete in 4-5 years because of change. Don't all those TV, Computer, camera, etc, companies just love it. There was a time when you bought a good 35mm camera, and figured you'd use it forever.

I'll just get aggravated if I think about Politics and politicians... you know, those politicians that have their constituents best welfare as their primary mission. More and more I agree that we need to vote out every incumbent. It's a message that should have been sent many years ago. Perhaps we be in better shape right now.

But, hey, I'm at 1,500 ft. on a mountain top and glad I don't have ocean front property.

    Oh, well... ramble over.

That was a great song, and was aptly applied to the Vietnam War as we got deeper into that fiasco. In retrospect, that time and where we were as a society seems tame compared to world events since then.

Yes, we have the greatest country, and I often think how lucky I was to be born here... but I think it's time for the citizens to step forward and be heard because our self serving politicians are selling out our children's future.

Thats whats so frustrating about this whole mess. We are selling out our childrens future. What happened to the days of each and every one of us "pulling our own weight"? If you think you got a bad lot in life........do something about it. Working in acrappy job 10 hours a day? Go back to school at night. Improve your lot inlife. Each and every American has that choice

The guess here is come this November these pols are going to get a real dose of reality.........and they deserve it imo

Nine people federal prosecutors say belong to a "Christian warrior"
militia were accused Monday of plotting to kill a Michigan law
enforcement officer and then attack other police at the funeral.

    Six
Michigan residents, two residents of Ohio and an Indiana resident were
indicted by a federal grand jury in Detroit, Michigan, on charges of
seditious conspiracy, attempted use of weapons of mass destruction,
teaching the use of explosive materials and possessing a firearm during
a crime of violence, U.S. Attorney Barbara L. McQuade and FBI Special
Agent in Charge Andrew Arena announced.

to quote a man I watched yesterday on hannity, Voting may be the single biggest thing you can do in this lifetime.

    "One (term) and done"

oh, and retake that pesky "Majority" in the Senate and House would be a savvy move.

you people do realize that if they pass this next bill to "strongly" monitor the Private Business sector we are steps closer to American Socialism right?

Through this Bill they could seize whatever Private Business they want, though they'll naturally deny any potential abuse in this power.

But suppose a Big Name Business wanted to throw some money to the RNC? What would stop an "Federal Probe" and subsequent Seizure?

    Think, Educate, Inform, Vote.

This coming Novembers election is going to be very interesting huh fellas?

If the gov't can get more people to NEED the Federal gov't, to depend on them, the more it will be easier for them to win votes. They want people to be needy, they want the majority of the people to depend on the Fed, the more people, the more votes.....it's a bad spiral.

You see, the Fed is a like a virus living on a host. It can only survive because the host survives. Everytime the virus "taxes" the host gets a little more weaker, but still able to work. Eventually, the virus will be too "taxing" and the host will die. In this case, the country.

Think about it, if the Fed survives on tax revenues, how can it survive when it is creating more and more public sector jobs at the expense of whatever private sector companies are left?

Those public sector jobs are paid by tax dollars. So when there are not enough private sector jobs, what happens?

You're right, AG... the upcoming elections will be very interesting. I know an increasing number of peoples who agree that we, the people, have to do something... and that can only be done by our vote. Voting out every incumbent seems to be one of the few ways to make our voices understood, and heard... and to show our unhappiness. At first I thought, "Well, there are some good politicians who probably deserve re-election." But, if we re-elect too many, then there's no strong message. With a definitive message, those that weren't up for re-electionshould seethe message for when they do have to run again, and the newly elected will be on their P&Q's right off the bat.... maybe.

So far we have 2" of fresh snow. Arrrrrggghhh! It's coming down heavy duty.

I drove down my mountain into townand there's only rain down there.
