NEW YORK GIANTS' DOMENIK HIXON SAYS KNEE "FEELS GOOD"
"The last time you saw wide receiver <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Domenik Hixon" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/domenik-hixon/" rel="tag nofollow">Domenik
Hixon</a>, he weighed about 190 lbs and was being carted off the field after
tearing his ACL in week two of the 2011 season against the St. Louis Rams. Fast
forward to Wednesday and the start of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) and Hixon
is back, healthy and considerably bulked up.
The five-year NFL veteran was
than he was in 2011, saying he had put on close to 25 lbs. And despite weighing
in at 213 lbs., he showed absolutely no signs of losing a step. He was as speedy
and agile as ever, breaking in and out of his cuts with ease.</p>
Along with Victor Cruz and rookie Reuben Randle, Hixon returned to a familiar
role on Wednesday: returning punts.</p>
In his absence, the Giants have total of 0 punt returns for a touchdown. In
fact, the last time the team returned a punt for a touchdown was in a December
2009 victory over the Dallas Cowboys … when Hixon did it. Moreover, the return
game has struggled in yards per return, averaging only 6.1 yards (Hixon averaged
10.3 ypr before he was injured).</p>
A healthy Hixon brings a lot of versatility to Big Blue. Not only is he an
adequate wide receiver, he also takes their return game to a whole new level.
And if looks are any indication, you have a man who is determined to stay on the
field and make an impact in 2012."</p>
