Osi says Giants didn't promise him they won't use the franchise tag on him

Osi says he did not get any promise that the #NYG won't use the franchise tag on him. And if they do? "I'll be happy," he said.

Long term deal after this season book it!

On whether being a starter still matters: "Not in
this case. Really if it was anybody but JPP and Tuck then it would
matter. But those are my brothers, man. If theyíre starting I donít
care. Iíll back those guys up happily."

On his Super Bowl ring: "Yeah, I got it. I had
somebody here because I was out of the country at the time. Somebody
went to the event and got it for me."

On his conversations with Tuck: "We really didnít
talk much about football stuff or whatever. Me and Tuck are friends and
we talked about all kinds of different stuff. He didnít really mention
any contract talk or whatever. Heís coming up here soon himself, so Iím
sure he was paying close attention to what happened here."

On whether there's a "pot of gold" out there for him at the end of all of this:
"I donít know. I donít think I am playing for a contract. I am playing
for fun. Honestly, because I love to play. If you go out there thinking
about playing for a contract, the contract will never come that is for
sure. I have made money and I am happy to be here with my teammates. I
donít know what is going to happen next year. I might have a great year
    and decide to stay."

It doesn't. This was the time to extend Osi if it is ever going to happen. Osi said no, preferring a one time, last contractual season, bump in pay of some $3.5 M+/-. That's certainly his prerogative, but I think it also is more likely that Osi will not be a GIANT beyond 2012.

It's not a question of wanting him or not, it's a question of being able to afford everyone we need to consider signing over the next several years.
