Giants see silver lining in opening week run game woes

    http://insidefootball.com/blog/archives/5145

Excerpt: "When Giants head coach Tom Coughlin spoke about building the bridge from last year to this year, one thing he was hoping not to see his team continue to build on was its poor showing in the running game.

That wasn’t the case though in the season opener, as the final numbers of 19 carries for 82 yards didn’t exactly tell the story of how the team struggled to run the ball with any consistency, an occurrence that left Coughlin frustrated to find answers.

“At some point, somebody has to move somebody to create a hole to give us a chance to go through,” he said. “Once in a while, we would have a poor cut, but the majority of the time it was, ‘You have to win.’ When you’re one-on-one, you have to make something happen.” Read more...

a butt kicking can be a silver lining if it motivates them.

Football players are competitive and if losing at home isn't a motivator going forward, what is?

Last year losing at home didn't seem to motivate.

So, it sounds like if he identifies somebody not moving his opponent, that maybe, just maybe, he'll let someone else have a shot at that positon? I have to beleive that after last year's disappointing running game, TC isn't going to wait too long to yank someone if they're not doing thier job. TC sounds very frustrated, and seems to have identified who wasn't winning their one on one match-ups. It'll be interesting to see how soon a shake-up happens, and who gets put on the bench. The big question is: who's going to rise to the occassion? Is it going to be one of the starters that picks up his game, or one of the back-ups who picks up his game and takes someone's spot?

I'm always reluctant to to question coaching decisions but I believe if there were someone on the team who was better than Diehl he'd take a back seat. If Beatty gets healthy enough to take over at LT, I am pretty sure Locklear will take over at RT at some point.

I think "Build a Bridge" is lame. I thought "All In" was perfect for the situation.

Doesnt help when the line cannot or will not do their jobs. They at least looked promising on the pass in the 1st half. In the 2nd half it all went bad.
