2011 Eli + 2007 Defensive Scheme equals...

I'm not all big on what ifs, or reminiscent on past greatness. But I have to honestly think about it though. Comparably this year's secondary *should* be better then the previous. This year's defensive line is slightly worse. But the caveat is that along with the season long theme going on, there have been injuries to key players, i.e. Tuck, Osi. No reason to talk about the LB's because there none existent. I want to hold out hope that if the defense wasn't playing this "read & react" nonsense but rather a similar scheme to that of '07 they would perform better.

Semantics...it was still the same scheme. But to your point, it's actually a better comparison. Their both in the second year of the scheme implementation.

We had an extremely balanced offense in 09. It was good til we lost Plax.

Yes the 2008 Defense was very good and better than the 2007 defense. I dont know why people on these boards act as if the 07 Defense was the best defense they ever seen. The '07 team had a few games that were memorable...the goaline stop against the Redskins, Osi's sack performance against the Eagles and the Superbowl...but other than that they were average.

The '08 defense was very good. Tuck and Robbins were on top of their game and we had a great running game with Plax as our go to receiver in the playaction game. Plax distracted the team, Toomer was also a distraction to because he felt he should of got the rock more after Plax was gone. The defense was wore out with Osi being good...and Tuck was telling the whole league that he was "tired".
