I think it is safe to say that if you went Richardson, you were right. He is not only a better player (by far), but he also had a better matchup.
People still seem to view the Ravens' (and Steelers') defenses as being these insurmountable forces. That simply isn't the case anymore.
The NFC West appears to be the new defensive stronghold.
