Even though I hate scary movies, I would watch the scary movies of today because well..they aren't scary. It's boring.
Directors and producers spend more time having so many people die and what not than have an actual plot to the story.
And it's like been there done that, every plot has been used.
Giants fan since 525 BC.
agree with The Ring and First Halloween for sure. When a Stranger Calls was more disturbing then scary. The Rob Zombie remakes of Halloween were creepy.

It has also come down to cheap scares such as a guy popping up out of nowhere, little kids with demon faces, and over-the-top gore.
It's a shame. I honestly think with the HD cameras nowadays it takes away from the creepy factor. The old school film was much scarier as it was grainy and darker.

The hype for Paranormal activity is unbearable. It's started with 35 minutes of a dumb story we all know and snooze during, followed by minute parts where you think something happens, but it's really their cat Susan that is wondering about creating small havocs.
THEN, at the last minute of the story, something totally bad*** happens that is actually pretty creepy.
THE END.
Scariest parts were probably when the cat Susan creates all sorts of havoc.
