The Giants’ No. 2 wideout situation is really interesting and really messy. Mario Manningham got benched in Week 4 for running bad routes and dropping balls. We’ve all seen what Victor Cruz can do when given the opportunity on the outside. So what now?

Ideally, the Giants will keep running Cruz opposite Hakeem Nicks
and kick Manningham into the slot. But they may want to give Manningham
-- who was coming off a concussion -- one more chance to hold on to his
    job.
mario is too explosive to sit on the bench, i dont believe a word of this.
i dont' mind Mario getting a benching as a wake up call. Hes bobbling every ball thats thrown to him. he needs to stop wtih that ****

    He should win MVP.

I will be pissed if they give the award to Justin Verlander.
really? why?
cause as amazing as verlanders been hes only played in 30 something games.
well i go by the most literal term. HE may of only played in 30 games but he had more of an effect for his team than anybody else. How many people single handedly have had that effect on their team

I mean honestly, in his 24 wins, in only 4 of them did he give up 3 or more runs. EVen in his losses he always ate up innings which always kept his bullpen fresh. He averaged the most innings per start out of any AL pitcher.

I typically agree, but I think Verlander is the exception
i was at one of those games, opening day. i think 30 games is so insignificant when compared to 160. yea hes an amazing pitcher, the best pitcher in the league( i think hes better than doc) but thats what the cy youngs for. in may, june, early july when starting pitching was finding its way and NO ONE was hitting and the injuries, it was all granderson whether making crazy catches in center, scoring runs, cruushing bombs, knocking in ribs.
yea but honestly Granderson average is awful and he strikes out a ton. Hes probably hurt us in so many situations by not advancing a runner and things of that nature that it does take away from his great stats.

His average is too low and his strikeouts are too high imo. And like I said, typically I agree with you about pitchers i just think this year is a special case. 24 wins? Thats nuts. And it wasn't because of a huge flux of run support. Not to mention the fact that he seemed to always go 7-8 innings typically. From his dominance, even in losses, he always preserved the bullpen which was able to help them win in games that he didn't even pitch in
hurt us? hes the main reason were in the playoffs. this is baseball, you fail 7 times out of 10 youre considered great. and i forgot to mention he is clutch. besides average, hes first in the al with ribs, 2nd in the league with hrs, (i remember once upon a time when you said "batting average doesnt tell the whole story, its all about on base%) and an on base% of .364, and 1st in the league with 137 runs. to me, none of verlanders stats can compete with those runs, even his 250 ks. runs are more important than ks imo.

grandys a stud and deserves it.
we play 162 games. There are def situations that he could of hurt us by not producing. Its too fluid to compare but to say just because he played 150 games he was more valuable is false. Do you automatically think Brandon Inge is as valuable to the Tigers as Verlander because he played more games?
cooome on i know you dont believe this. grandy has been doing what he did last night alllll year.
how is it even debatable? Are u suggesting that in every single loss we've had Granderson lack of production in those specific games were never attributed to our losses? LoL, is he Jesus Chris your lord and savior?

Its true about EVERY SINGLE every day player.

Im not saying Granderson hasn't had a great year, but with the average so low and strikeouts so high, he doesn't deserve teh MVP. Very good OBP, but he didn't have the best year out of every player in the AL.

Detroit wouldn't be in the playoffs or have any where near as many wins as they had if they didn't have Verlander
now your over reacting. ryan howard....

what al player (besides verlander) had a better year than him? beside average hes at the top of the list or 2nd on every offensive stat
agreed. he needs to bury his face in the playbook. i saw him run a wrong route last week but to his defense..........he was wide open and no one infront of him.[]
i really like him. i hope he turns it around.
i was of the same mindset as dezzz, which i dont freely admit lol, i didnt like the idea of a pitcher winning but i changed my opinion... even though he only had 30 or so starts the dude faced over 900 batters how many at bats did Granderson or Joey Bats (the real winner) have..

If they even play basketball this year. The preseason is canceled and if there is no agreement by Monday the first 2 weeks of the regular season are done...
