Nothing was official as of 1 a.m. ET Friday morning, but both the New York Daily News and Hoopsworld reported that free agent J.R. Smith
and the Knicks are on the verge of a deal. Barring a last-second snag,
Smith should be a Knick by this weekend, earning the $2.5 million
    exception.

The Knicks could be the best team in the East....
sooo because more people showed up at a parade, it trumped 94? give me a break.
uhh...yes...obviously...because it was more important to many many more people.

sure, 94 was more important to ranger fans....but there are less ranger fans....because hockey is less popular. wasnt that the point of this all??
how are you denying what matt said if those statistics are true? lol
how do you know more ranger fans dont live near the city. maybe more live upstate.
after the rangers won we spray painted a rink on our street and over 20 kids would play everyday after school for the next 3 -4 years. cant say the same thing after the yanks won in 96
lol yes, ur right, nobody spray painted a rink in honor of the yankees winning it all - u got me there

Define what u mean by crazyness that the rnagers in 94 brought...
they hadnt won since 1940. as a kid i thought the energy in the air(if you will) was "crazy" and exciting
yankees probably have a 10x bigger fan base which hadn't won in 20 years. Lets be honest - after that much time it makes very little difference. Generations were either too young or didn't exist since the last time the yankees had won.

Yankees winning that year was DEF more crazy.

Energry for the Yankees was insane and your downplaying that wAyyyyy too much

I just find it hard to believe that a team with a dramatically smaller fanbase, a sport that isn't anywhere near as nationally recieved could stirr the energy of possibly the most liked (and hated) franchise in the world.

btw, its pretty funny that u scoffed at the fact that 3.5 million people going to a parade but think that the 20 kids on ur block that played hockey tells the story...
maybe hockey fans thinks parades are gay. except kase. he loves his parades.

    yup

and im pretty sure anybody up there hates the city

they feel they are the REAL new york

have u ever met a Buffalo Bills fan?

I mean its like saying that south jersey should be Giants fans because they've been around a long time and play in jersey - but south jersey is clearly eagle country

I picked him up in hopes he would go to the Lakers. Hopefully it's not true. lol You are right about that. He could have started to.

It makes the bench so much stronger for the Knicks. They are deeeeeeeep.
