Nothing was official as of 1 a.m. ET Friday morning, but both the New York Daily News and Hoopsworld reported that free agent J.R. Smith
and the Knicks are on the verge of a deal. Barring a last-second snag,
Smith should be a Knick by this weekend, earning the $2.5 million
exception.



The Knicks could be the best team in the East....

yankees probably have a 10x bigger fan base which hadn't won in 20 years. Lets be honest - after that much time it makes very little difference. Generations were either too young or didn't exist since the last time the yankees had won.

Yankees winning that year was DEF more crazy.

I just find it hard to believe that a team with a dramatically smaller fanbase, a sport that isn't anywhere near as nationally recieved could stirr the energy of possibly the most liked (and hated) franchise in the world.

I'm live upstate (at least by city dweller/borough standards), and as a Giants fan, and Yankee, i've gone to parades, stadiums, etc...so is that your argument? ppl dont go?

I think he would of fit perfectly with the Lakers

not sure why he was going for Clips and Knicks

you KNOW your coming off the bench there - he prob could of started for Lakers and put them back in the top talks

I picked him up in hopes he would go to the Lakers. Hopefully it's not true. lol You are right about that. He could have started to.

It makes the bench so much stronger for the Knicks. They are deeeeeeeep.
