Re: THEE NYG SWAG THREAD

What's your fault Kase, is the overreaction you have to one particular situation, is it just some coincidence that you care SOOO much about Trayvon Martin vs the other 10-20 kids that age that have also died in a similar fashion over the last couple days? or do you care soo much because this is the one the media latched onto?

I think it's the later...because had the media not latched on to this you likely never would have heard about it at all.
No need to get disrespectfully arrogant Scrappy

I guess its my 'fault' is that I actually care about injustices like this that go unpunished. Its not that I dont care about other crimes that have happened, this has been the one that we've been discussing for days now. Ill gladly discuss any other ones you would like...

This is just a different case with different circumstances than the ones Dezz posted about the shootings in Chicago and the b&e in OK City
I don't mean to be disrespectful or arrogant Kase, and I'm sorry that you took it that way, I'm just trying to show you the error in your ways, you are getting all worked up over something simply because the media is blowing it up, you can say that's not the case, but I don't believe you, because if it wasn't the case, you'd be getting all heated over situations like this (and worse then this) multiple times a week, every week, every year...forever...but you haven't been getting heated like that...this is the first time...so clearly the reason you are angry is because the media told you to be...whether you want to admit it or not.

is this a tragedy yes, NO ONE is denying that, but it's hypocritical for you to say you are not being prompted by the media to react the way you are....because it's obvious that you are.
You see it as 'error in my ways' but thats what people call a difference of opinion

Me and you going back and forth has been hyping this up, and there have been PLENTY of atrocities that ive been upset over in my life, just because I dont mention them here doesnt mean I havent felt this way over other issues

its justified. Just because the media blows most of the time, doesn't mean that its propaganda machine 100% of the time.
so it's justified to have bounties on this guy before he's even been convicted, it's justified for the media to stir up hatred for this person before he's even had his trial? it's justified for innocent people who have nothing to do with Zimmerman to fear for their lives as crazy bang on their doors and demand that they produce him? no I don't think that's true Matt, I think this is all unjustified, I think the man deserves a fair trail...and if (only if!) he is convicted of the crime, then sure, hate him all you want...but until he's convicted I think it's dangerous to report on him as though he were.
Your just as bad as those who buy into the propaganda machine about every little thing (ya know, those people spreading awareness about every ****ing thing that they know nothing about on facebook), because you take the complete opposite extreme and just oppose anything that comes out on it. I think I am pretty balanced Matt, I think society has gone of the deep end that's the problem....
did you take this side of the argument for Timothy McVeigh? For OJ?

I mean come on man... this guy shot a kid in cold blood. He had NOTHING on him and this guy isn't even suppose to have a weapon on him.

I would considered you probably the lease balanced out of everybody in here when it comes to these debates.
I think even Morehead has been more balanced on this issue and we all know where me and him stand on political issues, LOL

IMO, Dezz and Daven have gone off the deep end on this one
Why cause I put that picture up? my friend put that up on facebook, he also happens to be black. its not racist is it?
I think Iv been very balanced. Iv showed multiple news articles of shootings just as bad if not worse than this and it doesnt get the coverage and you pretty much responded too bad on the double standard issue
Racist, nah. Tasteless, yes

You're making it seem like its my fault somehow that these crimes arent getting the press attention. Hell my only media outlet was when I had a radio show in college, LOL and that was years ago

These crimes are horrendous and deserve to be known on a national level, but theyre only known on a local level for the most part

Double standards are terrible and we should be past that as a society, but that doesnt mean we should be insensitive because double standards exist
Well thats not my intention at all, its to show you the hypocrisy of the media.
so your official position is that since all the others didn't get attention, this one shouldn't as well?

what a socialist way to look at it... obama would be proud
No, also the double standard.

Do you think because this was a "white on black" (quotes because he is also hispanic but the media ignores that)crime it deserves more coverage than all the other homicides that took place this weekend?
im not the judge and jury, but as kase said the circumstances makes it different than most of the other homicides that took place.

And regardless - my point remains that you think it shouldn't get public attention because others didn't makes me feel sorry for you.
I dont think that. I dont think race should fuel this case, like its doing. If you read everything I wrote you would see that.

its just funny how this debate has turned

black people use to always make arguments about how its ****ed up if a white kid goes missing its news and bla bla bla. Now its like white people trying to make a thing of it.

Im taking the race out of it when i look at this. I just see a kid murdered because some ****** bag had a power complex of power he didn't really have and it seems like there may of been a cover up with the police ****ing up the investigation. I don't care what color any of them are or why its a national topic. At the end of the day I think its a good thing its a topic any time light is shed on something of this nature - its a positive

go watch Patrice ONeals elephant in the room standup hour. It hits on this topic

Its getting disproportionate attention due to the opportunism of the media and these so called social leaders.

Its getting disproportional attention because "white" on black crimes are more interesting then black on black crime, or black on white.

Its not the level of outrage that drives this story. So many other stories are far more outrageous. What drives this story is that these powers that be know that you would bite on it. And you did.

na i just don't hold any racial discrimination on a topic like this, apparently you do

and i agree that those making it a pro-black thing are equally disgusting as those who are trying to make it "ITS ONLY CUZ ITS A WHITE SHOOTER" argument

most are just outraged that a young life seems to of been taken for no reason and that there was some sort of misplay by the police
