Other than gambling, some shopping, and an OK beach, there's nothing else there. You don't want to wander away from the boardwalk area after dark.

AC is a total **** hole, man. Sorry.

You'll be more apt to find Eagles stuff there. Don't walk anywhere off the Boardwalk at night.

Go into The Revel and eat dinner at Amada. Order up a storm, make it your expensive meal for the trip. The food there is ridiculously good. Farm fresh and all that. For Steakhouse greatness, visit Harrahs steakhouse, Borgata's Old Homestead or Morton's in Caesars (ask the waiter for the Morton's Surf-turf special not on the menu, it's a great deal). I like the Marina area best. Borgata, Harrahs and the revamped Golden Nugget (formerly Trump Marina) are all nice hotels. Borgata remains king as far as all the hotels go as it still feels most like a Vegas hotel inside and outside. Heed most people's warnings who have posted in this thread about nighttime wandering. Also, I suggest you valet park, it's just flat out much safer. Catch a comedy show either at Borgata or Tropicana. If you get the free Borgata red card, the tickets are likely free. Comedy Stop at Tropicana is good too and sometimes there are discounts in local newspapers as well as being handed out often in front of Comedy Stop in Tropicana's "The Quarter." If you are a Boardwalk Empire fan go to the Ritz Condo Association in between Tropicana and Trump Plaza (right next door to Tropicana actually). There'll you find a plaque dedicated to the real "Nucky Johnson" who in the show is named Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi's character).

Wow....is it really that bad. I would like my kids to be able to have fun and enjoy themselves....and not have to worry the whole time about shady characters. Bad enough that we all have to be vigilant at home. Well, I might cancel and go somewhere else

It's not bad all the time. Just don't wander around in desolate areas at night. Same as any other city. See my post above with a lot of good tidbits.

Yea south jersey is basically philly. Nothing but eagle stuff everywhere. Check out a show while in town and idk how old your kids are but they may not enjoy it if they are under 21

Put it to you like this, when you're driving toward the fancy casinos and hotels on the boardwalk you'll have to drive through the run down homes and buildings leading up to them. My first time heading to AC the shabby condition of the town surrounding it was definitely an eye-opener. You would think that with all of the money that the casinos and hotels bring in that the city leading up to it wouldn't look like Beirut.

And AC has its share of shady characters just like pretty much any place you go, especially on the boardwalk. But you and your kids can still have some fun. But most of the really crazy and funny people don't show up until after midnight.
One of these teams is not like the others
