Theres nothing wrong with forming some type of relationship via the internet. However dating someone having never met them in person is definitely a bit odd. Maybe he never really had a gf, got excited someone was showing interest and fell for it. But then again if they "met" in 09, hes trying to say he never saw her again? Never visited her during the offseason? Whatever the case it does indeed seem Teo is somewhat mentally unstable.
I think the reason why this story is so controversial is because this story made Manti Te'o. Everyone rallied behind him because of went he went through and what he had to deal with. Hell he almost won the Heisman. Now they find out that this girl never existed so it's like ..huh?
If he in fact did fall victim to a internet hoax, I feel bad for him. Is he naive? Hell yeah he is but nonetheless it's very sad what happened.
If he in fact lied about the entire situation and there's a strong chance he might have, well something is wrong with him.
Giants fan since 525 BC.
You often hear that the coverup is worse than the crime, and I think that's what we got going on here. It's funny, yesterday I was hoping the Giants would have a chance to draft him. IF he was in on this hoax (and it's starting now to look like he was) I don't think the Giants would touch him with a 10-foot pole. And I can't say I would blame them. How screwed up do you have to be to involve yourself in a scheme like this? I understand college kids will smoke pot. Some will drink a little too much and get behind the wheel of a car. I'm not saying it's right, but I understand how it happens. But this is on a whole 'nother level.
