here's sthe thing: Spags benefitted by having a Pierce, Madison and Strahan. He had veteran leadership coupled with competitive attitude at all 3 layers of his defense.
Spags also had younger fresher legs in Osi, Justin, Matthias, Rocky and Barry (hell even Freddy Robbins was playing his butt off)
To his defense and Fewells, no puns intended, a percentage of what happens and doesn't happen on the field goes to the Players themselves. This may be a reason to let some of the guys experiment with UFA and RFA at this point.
I think that we have to understand that Perry is trying to get the most he can out of what we have but unless I'm wrong didn't we lose like 5 Defensive Backs early in the year? It is hard to fill in the gaps when that happens, add in the fact that Webster had a seemingly down year...
the 34 is being used more and more as is the 3-3-5 because the league is becoming increasingly pass-happy. Perry and Coughlin want the best talent on the field at the same time. They have put most of their eggs in the basket of D-Ends it seems and so they are glued to a 4 linemen concept.
Fewells 4-2-5 ( 3 safety look) is our version of the 3-3-5 (which many 34 teams sub in depending on their situations.)
To me this Season should be his make or break one. We don't have to be top 3, just effective in my book. Make the stops on 3rd downs.
Now our Offense doing their parts to control the clock and score TDs rather than FGs? that is another story.

Fewell's scheme doesn't fit our players. I would rather have Spags.
They ask whether the Giants should bring him back, so yes, they do. This one just states the news from the Saints' perspective.
The moderating is incredibly anal on here, if a thread isn't explicitly Giants-related, it'll most likely be moved. Fair enough, I suppose.
