I put Amerson there for two reasons:
1- Yes he had a bad senior year, but many scouts say that he still will develop a a 1st round ability.
2- He has size. The lack of size that we dont have with Hosley we can add with Amerson.
Otherwise we can draft Blidi Wreh-Wilson, he has super long arms, and ESPN ranks him ahead of Banks.
I do not like Mathieu. He is a play maker but his game won't translate to the NFL. He is bad in coverage, most of his highlights are from sacks strip fumbles; but the Giants won't draft him for that reason, they won't draft him because he is filled with off-field issues.
n
disagree,,he is much more than just striping the ball,,which he does masterfully,,,,he is a flat out ball hawk who rarely gets beat deep and doesn't allow much separation. he excels in reading opposing D's and is always around the ball because of that. also,,he is a pretty darn good punt returner....his only off the field issue is that he likes to smoke pot,,which by all accounts is under control now. the high reward potential outweighs the risk involved. if he had played last year he is easily a first or early second round pick. he is more of a hybrid safety and slot corner in the NFL, plus he can tackle. he has ed reed ball skills....we would be nuts not to take a flier on this kid in say the 5th/6th/7th if he is still around. I am predicting he goes as early as the 3rd,,so we will never get near him anyway.
Love the mock. if Richardson from Missouri isnt there then Floyd is the next best. big body who can come in and start day one.
Love Arthur Brown but i have concerns that he wont be there then. I have seen some mocks having him a late 1st early 2nd. If hes not there then Green From RU would be great.
Next two Picks are guys that i have on my mock at the same spots. Quessenberry is one of the most versatile O-Linemen i have ever seen. can play all along the line and is solid at them all (not a star at any). I think Will Davis is a hidden gem in this draft. Big time sleeper pick.
The Rest of the draftees meet all of our needs. I have heard that Wolff is the real deal at S. Kruger is a good Run Stopping DE and with our line should be able to develop his pass rush ability, Love his Size at the point of attack.
Mathieu is a good prospect at round 6-7. Great ball skills and can turn a game at any time. Wont ever be anything more than a Nickle CB on Defense, just isnt big enough or tough enough at the NFL level. However, he also adds the special team aspect that every team needs, especially the Giants. Great PR/KR ability and with Wilson taking over the bulk of the carries on offense you really dont want him being a KR guy. Mathieu could step in and be an immediate impact player on ST.
Yeah at rounds 6-7, but what do yu have to lose at round 6-7? I think it would be crazy if we took him on the 3rd... 6-7 and even 5th I would be stoked cause he is a play maker. I believe he will be a great punt returner, but I don't see him being much more than that.
Ya i have seen alot of mocks having him as a 2-4 rounder. He wouldnt even be a 3rd rounder if he didnt have the off field red flags. He just isnt a #1 or #2 CB hes a Nickle/Slot CB and a KR/PR specialist who can probably play gunner aswell. I would be okay with 5th rounder for him.
