I like the character guys the Giants have. Two SBs in 5 years?? Tells me they ARE getting guys who can play and aren't total headcases.
I hate nothing more then to see a Giants player interveiwed and sounds like he just heard the English language last week. Some of these guys couldn't legitimately graduate HS let alone college. I like the trend the Giants have had choosing smart, educated(seemingly), good person type players.
They do that for the majority of the 53.

That's more a Reese thing... Accorsi picked up more straight-up physical talent but overlooked character sometimes, that's how we ended up with headcases that played well like Plax, Tiki, and Shockey. Reese takes character and willingness to put in work into consideration a lot more. Ogletree would practically be a lock at 19 if he was on the board if Accorsi were GM. Reese, not so sure...

That's what they said about Ulracher. He was an undersized former safety as well. Technique can be taught to fight off blockers. What you can't teach is speed and instincts and he's got a whole lotta that.

You also can't fix stupid. If you were interviewing potential employees for a job position in your company, would you take the guy that can work better than the others on paper but showed up to the interview hammered?

He doesn't work better than others on paper. He's better than others on the field. I can't justify Ogeltree's actions, but getting a DUI is not the same as showing up to an interview drunk.

LT was also a poor decision maker and that worked out for us. Also, remember these are young adults that are becoming men. College is the time that you make mistakes, learn and grow. Only its players that go on to the NFL that get a magnifying glass put on their mistakes.

FYI Poor decision making doesn't necessarily equate to lack of intelligence. Most of these guys are well aware of the rules they just place themselves above them.

Thats why I leave the provision that if Reese actually does pick Ogletree i will support it. I just don't see Ogletree being a good Giant with the way TC runs things. LT wouldn't have flourished in today's football either. Not due to playing ability, but due to the media scrutiny that just didn't exist in the 80s...

he's a 22 year old kid who made some bad decisions. on the flip of what you are saying would you expect a potential employer to ask you if you like girls? or if you are gay?, because not only is it illegal, it apparently does not apply to the NFL. would you accept a job from said employer?
