Let's play matchmaker: Finding the ideal free agent for each NFL team

    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/2...-each-nfl-team

    New York Giants
Best match: Phil Loadholt, T, Vikings

They locked up Will Beatty and signing Loadholt would give them a nice 1-2 combination to improve the protection in front of Eli Manning -- and amp up the run game.

    Can we afford him?

    No
Football has been very, very good to us.
Even though 2013 was a losing season, we can console ourselves with this fact-

    # of Super Bowl victories since 1985:

1-Chicago, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Seattle
2-Washington, Green Bay, Denver, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
    3-San Francisco, Dallas, New England
    4-New York Giants!!!!!

    Let's make it 5 in 2014 !!!

It depends this draft is deep at tackle as is the free agent class. It will be a buyers market for teams so anything is possible.

Loadholt is a mauler type RT. Can he really hold up in pass protection for the Giants in a system where we love to pass deep?

we dont have enough cap space as it is and loadholt will be way to expensive

We need to draft a good RT in the 2nd-3rd or maybe sign a Locklear type of player but we can't afford this guy

Loadholt is throwback to the power running days of the NFL. He is great when teams run iso or combination blocks but not so good with zone a movement blocking, struggles against athletic edge rushers and hard slants.

Now you need two LTs since a lot of teams employ dangerous rushers on both sides and move pass rushers around. Better off with a cheaper Baker or Bushrod. I don't see that happening either.

Yesterday on ESPN they talked about the Giants possibly aquiring Rashad Mendenhall, Id be happy with this pickup if we can get him for cheap. A real bruiser to go with Wilson.
