Wow. Reading this thread was exhausting. A lot of passion and frustration. Most seemed to be misdirected. Like many have said, you can't get mad at Diehl for accepting pay due him based on his contract. Sure, be mad he has played like a steaming pile, but it is the Giants' fault for continuing to pay him. I am one who believed he should have been cut and maybe given a new deal at much lower pay. Players want to go where they get the most money with respect to their talent level. They are allowed to do that. They can even hold out during a contract life. All parties have their own self interest at heart. As they should. Owners want the most performance for the least money. Players want the most money for their skills. No one wants to take less at anytime, even when their skills have dropped below their current pay scale. I personally don't think Diehl did what he did as a benefit to the team. I think the reality of take less or get released hit him in the face, and he wanted a job. I don't hate the guy. I don't love the guy. I just want him to play well or sit.

On a tangent... I hate moral relativism on pay scales. Don't tell me these guys deserve all this money because their careers can be so short, and then turn around and say how they deserve big money because they get used to a standard of living. If they want a lot of money due to short careers, they should live like the money can end tomorrow. If they want a lot of money because they want to live the high life, that's fine too. Just don't whine that you are broke 3 years after u stop playing. They get paid what the market bares. that's what America is all about. lol Hell, I wish I was 6' 6'' 275 and could run a 4.6 40. You guys would never miss the black unicorn again. hahaha RF is the most correct. They get huge money because we fans spend so much on the NFL.

It is more about diehl trying to stay then trying to help them sign cruz. Diehl knows that if he does not cut his pay then he will be moving elsewhere.

you know what....DD knows his status with the team and his fading performance. Why is such a bad thing that he says he will restructure to help keep Cruz on the team?? He has been with the Giants for both SBs, he has been dedicated and switch positions with nary a complaint. Whatever his performance he gives his all everytime. He wants to retire a Giant and he would like another SB.
IMO....Not one thing wrong with his approach to why he would restructure if they asked. He isnt trying to lie or pull the wool over anyones eyes.....
