    Yep, but it'd be nice to have the option of retaining him in the event that he - or another receiver - breaks out.

    Note how Julio Jones' contract expires at the same time as Roddy White's, it means the Falcons will have plenty of room to sign him to a franchise contract. They've clearly looked ahead.

    Who the hell is trying to plan 5-8 years out? I'm saying 3-5, and 5 is pretty much the fringe of what you can have any idea about. As a GM, you should have a pretty good idea of what 3 years hence is going to look like, at least conceptually.

    there are so many variables you cant even begin to compare it to what the Giants have going on......

    I agree but depending on what has gone on with the team and the handling of 53 players different scenarios arise.
    The Giants are in a bit of pickle but every successful team has their cap issues every now and then.
