    Cowboys can't francise Romo

    http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-networ...chise-tag-Romo

Apparently his contract is set up that if he's on the roster at the end of 2013 he can void the 2014 and 2015 years, AFTER the window to Franchise has passed. So either a long term deal needs to be worked out or he walks.

I'd love to hear the thoughts of some of the cowboys faithful around here have on this issue... In all honesty I can't really tell if just replacing Romo would work (they would have to get someone better or just as good to replace, and their cap space is going to be tight for a few years with all that restructuring), or if there's something more systemic going on in their organization...

I'm okay with this to an extent. We weren't going to franchise Romo at any rate after 2013... franchising him would eat a huge chunk of cap space. So this news isn't horrible in my opinion.

It only supports my trade Romo stance. I'm not going to pretend like I know what's going on at the negotiating table or what's going on in Romo's mind, but it just doesn't seem like he'll be here after 2013 if he's not extended this year. That's fine with me, but why let him walk after 2013 when you can get something for him by getting rid of him now?

More and more it's apparent to me the right move is to trade Romo. I mean, it's not like we're going to win the superbowl this year anyway.

They need to get a QB in the draft. I hope they reach on Barkley.

I think both are unlikely. I think the next Cowboys QB will be a Schaub, Flynn, or Cassel type... probably also named Matt.
