Cruz' does have a lot of drops but slot receivers usually do. However, I wish he get them under control. More of a concern is his short arming after the legal hit by Ryan Clarke in the game against Pittsburgh Steelers. Victor short armed it for a while after that. Now, of course you can't fault the guy for human nature but for the money that he is expecting to get, shoprt arming on regular or even prolonged basis is not an option. I really don't want to see us pay 10-11 million a year for a guy that should be getting in the 6-6.5 million per year range that is going to short arm passes. Heck, at 6-6.5 million per year, he should control the short arming.
Hakeem Nicks doesn't short arm it and is a very, very physical receiver. He exploded in 2011 post season and gave one of The Best postseason performances by a WR ever in post season. The guy reminds me a lot of Michael Irwin and I don't think there is any doubt that Hakeem Nicks is our #1 WR.
17 pages of misconception, speculation and mis-placed anger... God I love this board!!
So first off let me say I'm a huge fan of Victor Cruz. Just like most people on these boards are, but I think overpaying him would be a mistake. I think that if he is asking for 10-11 million per season and refuses to come down to a reasonable amount he needs to be traded after he signs his tender. Would it be nice to have him this season? Yes.. If you're not going to get anything for him though that's a bit of a waste. I'd rather sign Edelman and run with Nicks, Randle, and Edelman and get some draft picks for Cruz.
