Call his bluff and let him gamble with his option year at the 2.8 mil. If he has a great year and they think he's worth 10+ mil and have the money they can offer it to him after the season. If he decides to walk anyway after the season we can get another top receiver for that kind of money. I say no way Cruz will gamble and will sign for the 7+ mil.

It's hard to give Cruz $10m when we clearly have a number 1 receiver in Nicks and we are trying to keep them both. It would be okay if he's all we got and and we're building a team around him, but that's hardly the case.

nah...your arguement is weak. Who are the players taking paycuts??...Players who's career is near the end and have already had theor paydays..
Cruz is young and getting ready for his payday...
Not a diva by any stretch......

OK, so why cut him when he has to play here for another year? What kind of logic is that? There is no incentive for him to hold out, or to not perform his best while playing under the tender for less than $3M. If he's tendered and they don't continue to negotiate a long term deal, then they agree with you. When he hits FA in 2014 you can kick him to the curb if that's really what you want to do.

But at what point does the loss of his services, for however many games, figure into how much they'll cough up for Nicks? And, yes, the same logic applies to Cruz's drops. That's what I see as each players biggest negatives.

Saying they should let I'm walk if he wants that kind of money is not ripping on the guy. He is no different from any other player that wants o get paid. Just said if that's what he wants they should say goodbye. Paying him that kind of money along with Eli would hurt this team more than help it.

He HAS to play here in 2013 under his tender. Why would you just release him?

Meant eventually. You can't think he would ask for less if he did have a good season. Just saying it looks more and more like he will play for another team one day.
