Could this just be an attempt to make the steelers pay more money?
So Pats offer only a $2.5 million 1-year deal and a third-round pick to snag RFA WR Emmanuel Sanders from the Steelers, who currently only have $2 million in cap space. The Steelers can't just match unless they open up $500K in cap space through other means in 5 days. A very tactful move it seems. Big Ben will be down to Antonio Brown and a washed-up Burress WR combo real soon.
So much for RFAs not being touched.
Looks like the Steelers found a way to open up $500K in cap space to match the Pat's offer sheet in five days. Emmanuel Sanders is staying put on the Steelers.
Pats need receivers pretty bad, I wonder if they'll go after anyone else. Danario Alexander has a low pick attached to him...
Perhaps they could bundle Ryan Mallett into a trade for one.
