    For those who want Ogletree

    Per Rotoworld:

NFL Network's Mike Mayock says he is "scared to death" of Georgia LB Alec Ogletree as a first-round pick due both to off- and on-field concerns.
Ogletree is a candidate to slide out of the first round because his character is a nightmare. "Im scared to death about Ogletree, both for on- and off-the-field issues," Mayock said. "When you put the tape on, he has no clue what hes doing. He looks like a safety that somebody plugged inside at inside linebacker. He just runs around." Mayock also called Ogletree's work ethic and passion for the game "question marks right now."

I posted this in the "look at the 12/13 NFL draft" section, I can't see him sliding out of the 1st round

His off the field stuff is scary, but on the field he looks like a pro bowl LB to me

Need guys like Ogletree for all this read option crap and to cover all the receiving TEs now..
(1)Aaron Donald, DT Pittsburgh - (2)Jordan Matthews, WR Vanderbilt - (3)Jack Mewhort, OL Ohio State
(4)Arthur Lynch, TE Georgia - (5)Bryan Stork, C Florida State - (5)Tyler Gaffney, RB Stanford
    (6)Prince Shembo, OLB Notre Dame

I normally love Mayock, but I think he is off here. I saw him playing vs Alabama. The dude can play. He was tackling Lacy one on one, shedding blocks by Bama's Olinemen, and covering sideline to sideline showing he can handle.the read option mobile QBs.

Off the field, yeah that could be an issue though.
If you dig up the dirt in Oakland, you will find Giant bones

    3/18/14 Draft:
    1-Aaron Donald DT Pitt
    2-Kareem Martin DE UNC
    3-Stanley Jean-Baptiste CB Neb
    4-C.J. Fiedorowicz TE Iowa
    5-Bryan Stork C FSU
    5-Chris Watt G ND
    6-Jeff Janis WR SV

He played well in the Bama game but watch him against South Carolina. He was pushed around by that OL that has no 1st round talent on it. Ogletree seems like the type of player that shows up when he wants to.

Ill be honest, so was Javis Jones and most of the Georgia defense that is ranked very high in this draft. In fact, so are most defenders not locked into that stereotype of "blue collar, non stop motor white guy".... Ogletree is a beast. If we pass on him, unless it is for another great player, we will look back at this as a huge miss to fixing our LB situation. Dude is PERFECT to help us vs the Mike Vick / RGIII, even Tony Romo scrambling moble QBs.

Fair point, they did get dominated. I just am not sold on him that high in the draft. I would rather go CB,OL,DL and pick up a guy in the later rounds. I may be in the minority but I really like Jon Bostic especially if we could land him in the 3rd.

I agree. OL and DL are definitely points we could use a 1st round talent on. I think if a player like Zig Ansah or Lane Johnson are there, we pounce on them. But the Giants love picking BPA and athletic, high ceiling guys in the 1st. I think Werner will be a very good player, but isnt on the Giants radar. Same with Fluker or Te'o everyone seems to be mocking us to. And I think we all know we wont draft a TE despite what draft gurus say.

My opinion is changed now, because Mayock dosen't like em(sarcasm)..lol nah, seriously i think mayocks crazy on this one, the guy dosen't know what hes doing? He seems to be in the right place at the right time alot, and its not just because hes fast and athletic, its because he knows how to play the game and understandsd the play.. As he gets coached up, and adds a bit more bulk , hes gonna be one of the better all around LBs in football, as his instincts, speed, and athletic ability all ready rate at the top or the top of the MLB class for this yr... For teams looking for a guy who might lack a tad in run defense, but need a playmaker, and coverege backer, who can run with TE's and grab backers outta the backfield, and defend the running QB's in the league, then Ogletrees ur guy.. If he adds alittle bulk and strength, and starts consistently disengaging blocks in the run game, he'll be a complete beast!

I just hope he's more than a Will LB (at least if he's drafted by the Giants).. I like J Will there
(1)Aaron Donald, DT Pittsburgh - (2)Jordan Matthews, WR Vanderbilt - (3)Jack Mewhort, OL Ohio State
(4)Arthur Lynch, TE Georgia - (5)Bryan Stork, C Florida State - (5)Tyler Gaffney, RB Stanford

This is my biggest problem with Ogletree ... he's a WILL backer and we already have WILL backers (and decent ones).

Between that and his character issues, I don't see the Giants drafting him.
