First, let me say this... I'm a big Cruz fan. With that being said, he has been known to drop very catchable passes. If the Giants are offering him 7 or 8 million and he is balking at that, then I think the Giants have stepped all they need to step up. It may be time to move on, there are other hungry, talented, young players out there wanting a shot.
Face it everyone, Cruz is as good as gone. The Giants have gone as far as they should. In fact they are offering him too much as this point for a slot receiver. The Giants aren't budging, and it is clear Cruz will not sign and IF he does play for the Giants will not show until sometime during the season. Time to move on. If he does sign his tender before June 19th (deadline), then the Giants should immediately trade him and get what they can for him, since he is gone come February 2014.
Look folks.....The Giants hold ALL the cards. He has no option but to sign a tender, or sign a new deal favorable to the team.
Maybe what's going on here is that Cruz camp is in the process of accepting that, but isn't there yet.
IF (and that's a huge "if") we did indeed make a 3 year, $21MM offer, we could still tender him, franchise him for the following 2 years, and we would end up with 3 years and about $23MM. With the option of releasing him next year or the following year.
The team has all the leverage. Its seems that maybe Victor hasn't accepted it yet.
