Maybe what's going on here is that Cruz camp is in the process of accepting that, but isn't there yet.
IF (and that's a huge "if") we did indeed make a 3 year, $21MM offer, we could still tender him, franchise him for the following 2 years, and we would end up with 3 years and about $23MM. With the option of releasing him next year or the following year.

The team has all the leverage. Its seems that maybe Victor hasn't accepted it yet.
A lot of ifs and maybes lol

No doubt but it seems Cruz's option are limited.

Clearly, there are only two realistic options.

I say he either takes the offer or he can sit out.... if he sits out, that won't help his cause next season in FA.

Exactly, so why would he "sit out"? He has two contract offers and he will accept one of them.

That's what I'm saying, take the offer on the table, or sit. I don't think the Giants need to sweeting the pot anymore.... nobody came calling for his services so his options are pretty limited at this point. I like the guy.... but this is business :-)

It is a business and Tom Condon will recommend Cruz sign when he thinks the time is right. They are talking which is a good sign.

If he sits this year he is NOT a free agent next year. He's a RFA just like this. he will be back in the exact same position. Only with probably a worse offer.
He has 2 options. Sign the tender or sigh the offer from the team.

I don't understand why this isn't understood by now.

I thought that I read that if he sits out, but returns by Week 10, he would get credit for the year of service and would be a Free Agent after the season. I believe that Vincent Jackson did this a few years ago.

I'm not sure if this is right, but if it is, he could still screw us up pretty bad by holding out until Week 10.
