2014 NY Giant Mock Draft - WHY NOT???? :)

I have the Giants with the 8th overall pick in this mock and have them trading down in the 1st to pick up an extra 2nd rounder:

1st - Cyril Richardson - OG - Baylor - 6'3" 340 (Best OG in the draft. Excels in run and pass blocking)
2nd - Gabe Jackson - OG - Miss St - 6'3" 340 (One of the top technical OGs)
2nd - Christian Jones - ILB - Florida St - 6'3" 240 (Best pure athletic LB in the draft)
3rd - Dan McCullers - NT - Tennessee - 6'8" 355 (Mammoth d-lineman to plug holes and keep O-line from double teaming DEs)
4th - Bene Benwikere - CB - San Jose St - 5'11" 195 (All-Conf CB that can play all secondary positions)
5th - Seantrel Henderson - OT - Miami - 6'7" 340 (Monster project with great upside that will slip in draft due to technique issues)
6th - Marquis Flowers - OLB - Arizona - 6'2" 235 (Fast aggressive converted from a SS. Great in coverage and in pass rush. Arizona's best defender)
7th - Zurlon Tipton - RB - Central Michigan - 6'0" 220 (One of the best all around RB in the nation, 7th in nation in rushing in 2012. Missed all 2013 season to a broken ankle)

Retools our O-line with much needed talent, youth, and girth to protect Eli and open up run lanes. Add a monster to the D-line to team with Jenkins and Hankins assuming Linval leaves. Hopefully helps keep our DEs from getting double teamed. Adds aggressive, athletic LBers that we desperately need. Add another quality CB to the secondary, which we can always use. And take a few chances on a big OT and one of the best RBs in the nation that suffered an injury.

pass rush and corners are much more important and cannot be fixed with mediocre players, OL doesnt need studs to be effective.

Jerry Reese has drated a pass rusher and a corner pretty much every year since he has taken over as GM, and now Eli has no time to throw the ball and our RB's have no holes to run thru

You couldn't be more wrong with your assessment with this team. The games are won in the trenches. We need TALENT on the O and D lines. Control the line, control the ball, win the game. We've had patch work O line for too long. This line is old, injured, and is being made up of Practice Squad players. We have 2 youngish OTs that MAY have talent...jury still out, but up the middle is horrible. We need to replace Snee, Baas, Cordle, Diehl on the inside. The 2 top OGs are how its done. Open up some lanes so we can run and time of possession goes up, keeps D off the field, allows Eli to pick apart secondary with the pass...everything falls into place after that. But that's how it starts.

On the D line we need active DTs that can eat space, control the line and force help. We cannot get a pass rush if our top rushers are being double teamed and chipped. And adding fast athletic active LBers that can cover and hit gaps will help support that D line. This is where the team breaks down.

I love Gabe Richardson in the 2nd, but not a Olineman in the 1st. We need a impact player in the 1st rd, weather that be a CB(roby or Verrett), a LB(mosley or Barr or Mack), a WR(sammy watkins), or even a S in (HaHa Clinton DIx).. Bottom line is we need a diffrence maker unless the value is simply to great to overcome and a Lewan falls to pick 20 or something..

I like Benwikere in the 4th, albeit, i haven't checked up on his injury he got in the last game that i was watching. Something with his foot.

I like Christian jones. But physically he's not close to Shazier.

Shazier is one of the top 5 most explosive players in the entire draft, never mind at just LB
